Libertad o Esclavitud?

Well, it may be that old Fidel’s time is winding down. People are already speculating what will become of Cuba, should he be called to the great agricultural cooperative in the sky. Many people are optimistic that the politburo of the Caribbean will become a bastion of democracy. That certainly sounds nice, but before that happens, let us weigh the pros and cons of such a transformation.

Many Cubans, if they even have a car, drive some beater from the 50’s or 60’s. US auto makers could make a fortune by selling them leftover gems from the 70’s and 80’s. Who wouldn’t want to upgrade to a Pacer, Gremlin, Vega, or Ford Pinto? On the down side, Cuban manufacturing of makeshift escape rafts would suffer tremendously.

There is a great tune by Jimmy Buffet called, “Havana Daydreamin’”, perhaps he could re-release it to celebrate the new Cuba. On the other hand, we run the risk of Barry Manilow re-releasing “Copacabana” (The hottest spot north of Havana). I’m not terribly comfortable with that.

In a free society there is a risk of crime going up, which wouldn’t be good for a struggling democracy. However; we could lease our facilities at Guantanamo to house these novice ne’er do wells.

Smoke em’ if you got em’. One could now legally import a good Cuban. Nothing like smoking a good Cuban. I hear they make a damn good cigar as well. Another positive is that CEOs of American companies would have a new market to exploit. Better still, American jobs need only travel 90 miles to be outsourced to a foreign country. With gas prices as high as they are, it’s a win-win.

Most importantly, a free Cuba would increase the chances of the Cincinnati Reds to pick up a starting pitcher and a shortstop. And maybe, just maybe, the Desi Arnaz Memorial Auditorium would be erected in Santiago de Cuba.

Weigh the positives and the negatives and decide for yourself...Libertad o Esclavitud?

The one and only, Pastor Rod Parsley:

"I believe this is your time to receive the tangible transfer of God's miracle-working power, and I want to encourage every one of my Breakthrough Partners and friends to send a prayer cloth along with your prayer needs to be prayed over. When I return your prayer cloth to you, I believe the tangible transfer of God's creative power will flow into your life and birth your miracle! I believe God, Himself, will anoint you to reap a mighty harvest of your physical, spiritual and financial needs..."
