Pigskin, Bratwurst, and the New Fall Line Up

Late summer, early fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I can watch football and baseball concurrently. The air is ripe with the smell of bratwurst cooking on a festival grill, and lo and behold it is also the start of the new television season. The 183 versions of “CSI” are returning, “Dancing with the Stars” has already fox-trotted back to the small screen, and of course “Grey’s Anatomy”, co-starring Justin Chambers, (who, incidentally, grew up across the street from me in lovely Springfield, Ohio) is ready to cut it to the quick.

None of these shows really excite me, but there are a few new shows that have piqued my interest. Following, is a brief synopsis of some of the new shows that I’ll be checking out.

Take a group of planted Al-Qai’da POWs, add a moronic barracks guard, and bring it all together with a splash of a less than brilliant Camp Commandant, and it all adds up to 22 minutes of madcap hilarity. Watch as these wacky islamofascists constantly disrupt the everyday goings on at Guantanamo Bay…And, wink, wink, Colonel Spink, that Koran contains a hidden microphone. Join Gerald McRaney as Commandant Spink, and Steve Buscemi as the terrorist leader in the hilarious war time comedy, “Akbar’s Heroes”.

VH-1 feeding on its success of reality shows such as “Hogan Knows Best”, and their celebrity weight loss show are at it again and thinking big, and the result is excitement. Watch as Todd Bridges and Dan Rather team up with Judy and Audrey Landers, as they face off against Vanilla Ice, Jerry Mathers, Kim Fields, and Lady Bird Johnson in a no holds barred game of “Capture the Flag” smack dab in the middle of Central Park. This time, it’s for real. Each contestant will be given a side arm, three grenades, and an Uzi. The first one to capture the flag or the last one standing is the winner. Tune in Wednesday nights to VH-1 and your host O.J. Simpson for “Celebrity Hit Club 1”.

Join me later today, and I will let you in on a few more gems that are sure to have you glued to the tube. Until then,
Cheers!!
