Before I offer you a few highlights and thoughts about my trip, I would like to apologize for not being able to comment much. I must have caught a stomach bug of sorts and it has me a bit well, nauseous and shall we say loose in the plumbing. As I am typing this my stomach is making noises reminiscent of two rabid hyenas fighting over a gazelle carcass. Fortunately it didn’t strike until I got home. At least now I can deal with it within the comforting and familiar confines of my own bathroom. But enough about my intestinal distress…
My trip to D.C. was really not all that eventful. We were for the most part very well behaved. We took in some of the sites, ate at some good restaurants, and had a lovely time at the wedding. So I will try to summarize the good and the bad before I have another bowel related emergency…
Lunch at Capitol City Brewing Company was very good. They had some good micro brews and the Crabcake Sandwich and fries were excellent. The Ambassador had a bratwurst sandwich that looked fantastic as well. He even commented to the waiter by saying, “Nice place ya got.”
I so like a 50’s looking hotel coffee shop/diner. The diner at the Best Western Capitol Skyline looked like a great spot…old booths, glass all around, and a waitress who was grandmotherly looking. She even kept her pen in her hair. I had breakfast there Friday after my morning workout which consisted of walking to the gas station to get cigarettes. I had coffee, a cheese omelet, and potatoes. It sucked…not kinda…not a little…It sucked big time. I will say however, the staff at the hotel was great. Their greatness was exceeded only by the profound suckiness of my breakfast.
Saturday we had lunch at a place in Georgetown called Martin’s. This pub/restaurant was packed, but we only had to wait a few minutes for our table. Everyone’s food looked and tasted great…well except mine. I had crab stuffed flounder. The filling was very good but the piece of flounder had more bones showing than Kate Moss. My hands were moving faster than a migrant lettuce picker’s as I deboned the fleshy fish. Oh don’t get me wrong, I would go back there, but I sure as hell wouldn’t order the stuffed flounder.
So there are a few highs and lows as far as the food goes. I have a couple of more notes about the trip that I will post as soon as innards allow. Hopefully, I’ll feel better soon and get back to commenting on your comments and your sites. Until then, Cheers!!

They screwed up a cheese omelet? BLASPHAMY!
So did you save those bones and make a little trinket for Scmoop?
The real question I have is....
What did you bring me Daddy?
It was a travesty Cheesy. They messed up my cheese!! I used the bones to make a crack pipe and I'm sending it your way.
I'm so sorry you're feeling...crappy (you KNEW I had to say that, right?) Hope you're up to par soon.
I'm with Cheesy - how in the hell do you screw up a cheese omelette? Bizarre.
I haven't been to DC in many years, but I want to go back. Glad you had a good trip that wasn't too eventful.
Hugs.
Crab cakes, bratwurst, stuffed flounder, crappy cheese omelet....
It's no wonder your innards are doing the not so happy dance!!!
;d
Feel better!!!!
Peace
Um Matt??? My crack don't do pipes.....especially boney ones... :o)
As always your heart felt concern is appreciated Songbird. Hope you're feeling better today, and yes it was a nice trip.
Odat: I thought it was all that stuff too. But I have a bit of a fever as well. It might be Post Debauchery Stress Syndrome.
Cheesy: Well there goes my chance!!
mmm... bratwurst. I'll have what the Ambassador's having!
Hey Matt!
Sounds like you had an overall good time though. Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. I'd bring on the Swedish nurses... but I can't get any of my own at this time anyway. Yeah, it's all about me me me!
Anyway, LOVE the micro brews and the thought of crabcakes---must have been really good!
Take care- drink lots of gatorade & water for hydration while you're still draining out your bug!
LOL
Yikes...sounds like your innards have seen better days.
Make sure you keep yourself hydrated...we don't want you drying up on us, farting and then disappear like a puff of smoke ;o)
Allie it was very painful for me to look at, but I stayed true to my Lenten Meat Abstinence. The little bastard.
Deb: I always knew that you were nothing more than a filthy Swedish nurse hoarder. But yes the beer was excellent. Cheers!!
Cheesy: Why must you laugh at me so?
Jillie: Thanks for wanting to keep me around. I'm a little better today so hopefully the trend will continue.
Matty - must've been tough sticking to the lenten 'no meat' thing esp through the wedding weekend.
Don't forget to replenish your fluids AND your electrolytes (I find that Powerade is more palatable in these situations than Gatorade) because you're body is in "flush" mode right now and you'll feel better faster by replenishing!
cheers,
mo
Jeez Mo...It was tough looking at some the stuff the rest of my party was eating!! As far hydration I drink two or three quarts of water a day, and as far as replacing my electrolytes WIR gives me all that I need ; ) Cheers!!
Welcome back, Matt! Sorry you brought back a not-so-savory souvenir from Chocolate City! On the plus side, once you can digest food again, you only have a little over a week of abstaining from meat!
Thanks Laura, and yes I have been counting the days until I gorge myself on a couple of cardiac arresting Cheeseburgers...Oooooo Baby!! Oh and bacon too...and a pizza with the works, sausage, and of course, SPAM!!!!! Cheers.

Hey Kerouac...I'll be by of course.
Where the hell have you been Mr. Badway!!? I thought yo uhad vanished for good. I'll make sure to link you back up. And yes, I try to keep my posts high brow and thought provoking. Cheers!!
Matty.. I'm telling you there's someting funky in D.C.
I just flew through there on my way back from Bham and ended up with a fever, a sore throat and I was tossing my cookies for 3 days.
Keep hydrated man.. or you'll implode.
Sorry to hear that Anndi. Your syptoms sound just like mine only I have tossing out the other end...If you really needed to know that. Well maybe I only have one more day then. Cheers!!
Didn't y'all know? The lovely parting gift from our beloved capitol city is intestinal distress.
I thought everyone was aware of that, or I would have warned ya!
Geeez. Now I feel bad.
Well you should feel bad Trav...I could have used the info. Sheesh!!
Matt man..
You complete me.. together we're the perfect sickly being.
I'm so glad you returned safe and unscathed! (Well, except for your intestinal tract).
Crabcake sandwiches sound DELICIOUS. I'm drooling just thinking about it.
I'm sorry. The best cure I know for this intestinal distress is to listen to Taylor Hicks tunes.
Matt, I will only offer my condolences for your feeling so sick and not make wise cracks about your illness which I think is a crock of shit to do to someone feeling so bad. I mean how can anyone take your malady and turn it into a crappy joke?
omg Badway IS alive!! Man I laff with you not at your boney pipe...
Ahhhh Anndi we form the perfect yin and yang of bodily discharges.
Thanks Janna, and yes the Crabcake Sandwich was excellent complete with spicy tartar sauce!!
Trav: Yes the wailing of Mr. Hicks can clean anyone's colon out. Cheers.
Bond: I appreciate you not making light of how crappy I feel.
Cheesy: Isnt it great another sick mind back in the blogosphere.
