Folks…Do NOT try to adjust your computer screen. The picture on the right actually says, what it appears to say, “The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival”. I was close to just posting the picture itself and let it stand on its own merits of humor, but I of course, have a couple of comments.
If somebody were to administer to me a word association test, the last word I would associate with Shakespeare would be “Kentucky”, although Steven Seagal would be a close second to last. It just strikes me as odd. I mean, I just cant see them finding any one of the good ol’ bluegrass boys auditioning to portray Puck, King of the Wood Fairies in a production of “A Midsummers Night Dream”. Can You?
I have an image in my head of the acting troupe doing a production of "Titus Andronicus" sixty feet from the late Troy Clayton’s front yard which contains a washing machine and 1981 Toyota Cressida on blocks. I guess that would be a bit symbolic because since Mr. Clayton is dead, the car has become a Troy-Less Cressida!!
I bet if they do Romeo and Juliet there wouldn’t be Capulets and Montagues, there would only be Montagues…of course the Montagues would be known as the Judds. I can heart it now, "Good Night, Good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till our mom serves us grits on the morrow." And of course the line that brings the house down would be, "What's in a name? That which we call sister by any other name would smell as sweet". In this version Romeo and Juliet, aka Ronnie and Violet, do not commit suicide; they are brutally killed by a jealous, axe-wielding Uncle Jeb.
I looked at the schedule of this festival and tonight there will be a performance of "Taming of the Shrew". I can only assume that this version involves those wacky Bowshier brothers capturing, taming, and then eating the shrew with a side of corn fritters, fried okra, and a nice moonshine. Some things just strike me as odd, indeed. I mean what’s next…The West Virginia Merriam-Webster Exposition?
Until the ‘morrow…Cheers!!

Kentucky juxtaposed with Shakespeare - Oh, the irony. Much along the lines of my Book of Mormon story, huh?
I need a sign! I need a sign! Uh, no, not that one...
Songbird: Go thee and sin no more. Thus sayeth Joseph Smith!!
Joseph Smith - wasn't he the second conning of Jesus?
Yes, In a sense....
I'd be willing to bet they are importing the actors from outside of Kentucky...

Of course mine does not feature banjo music....
If you can't tame the shrew, eat her, is that right? ;-) (Shakespeare's kind of shrew, anyway. And I know who the men are in your previous post, you crazy guy. I was kidding.)
Shakespeare would be laughing his ass off if he could read your post.
