Reflections And Lunch With Ryno

I have been hesitant about writing this post for fear that it might make me come off looking as a self-aggrandizing, ego-centric blow hard. While this may be very true of me, I hope that you do not take that away from this particular post.

Last Friday, my friend Songbird posted about how her time meeting with family in Ohio was going. It was a nice post with great pictures, and then half way through reading the post she wrote something that stopped me in my tracks. Songbird wrote the following:

“The best Schmoozer I know is Matt-Man at Bagwine Ruminations. In his comments, he has a way of making this middle-aged suburban housewife feel like the most desirable woman on the planet. His posts reflect his talent as a writer: he is intelligent, satirical, witty, sensitive, and charming. His posts can make you laugh, gag, and ponder all at the same time.”

Initially, my ego, which by the way is larger than Dick Cheney’s soul is dark, felt well-fed. But then I realized that Songbird’s post said more about her than it did about me. Songbird, on vacation, took the time to say more than a few words referring to me in quite a good light. She did the same for our good friend Mo, as well.

Now, I know many have you have said good things about me before and I thank you, but for some reason this struck me differently probably due to the fact that she took time out of her vacation to post, and perhaps last week I was pre-menstrual…er…or something along those lines. Songbird’s quote reminded me of something.

It is easy for us to take the time to say something negative about a person, but do we really take the time to thank someone for being a good person? Do we often enough let people know that we appreciate them for making us smile, lending an ear, or just being there? Probably not…but because of her I will make an effort to do so.

So that’s it for today. I will be spending the majority of the day with Ryno, so I will not be able to get back to any comments right away. If you get a moment, go to Songbird’s site by clicking HERE and tell her that she rocks. Make sure, however, that Matt sent ya, because like I said, I have a one big ass ego.

I will be off of the Paxil and back on the Rose tomorrow so expect an edgy Stream of Consciousness Friday. Cheers!!

In my newly adopted effort to avoid being cryptic (rolling my eyes)…I find myself in complete agreement with you Matthew. A couple days ago….I passed on Princesshood to Miz Songbird for her encouraging and thoughtful spirit.

Matt-man
Now we know for sure...Songbird is your mom! Only your mom can love you like that!
Just kidding!...behind every funny man is a soft soul....someone with a heart. People with real passion and heart try to hide it behind humour.
But we can see right through you Matt-man. we know you have a soft side.,emotional side...and we'll play on it every chance we get.
We love ya just the way you are.
Cheers.
