Sunday Morning Church Disservice: Veterans Day

It’s a special Sunday here in Bagwine, Ohio and in fact, all across the United States. Not only is it a day of religious services, it is Veteran’s Day. I was fortunate enough to find a picture that captures this dyadic encounter…

A timeless photograph of our Veteran-in-Chief standing side by side and soul by soul with the New Testament-in-Chief.

Here in the U.S., November 11th is the day we honor all who served in our Armed Forces over the years.

We celebrate the men and women who have protected our great land over the years, heroes all, well maybe with the exception of those dudes who couldn’t prevent a bunch of effeminately dressed Brits from burning down the White House during the War of 1812...But I digress.

With that being said, I am proud to present you a special Veterans Day message from President Bush that you will only see here, on Bagwine Ruminations. Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States…

Hi Ho and a Blessed Sunday to Y'All,

We are in the middle of a conflict that is hard. We have been in hard spots before. It has always been the Amurrican soldier that has made our hard spots…ummm…less harder. We owe them a ginormous debit of granditude.

I hope that while you’re watching the Dallas Cowboys put a can of Texas whoop-ass on the New York Giants today, yall will take a moment to think about people like Tom Brady, because that is what this day is all about…Patriots.

From the Halls of Mount-My-Zooooma to the doors of the Phillipines…Marines, ya gotta heckuva song. Off we go into the wild blue yawndor…Air Force, fabulous. What’s that Army song? With their capes on, they go rolling along or some nonesuch like that? Work on that one General. Hey Coast Guard, do you even has one? I’ll be in Zurich next week, maybe the Swiss Coast Guard has some tunage you can bar-ree.

Anyhoo…To all of you Vedderans out there, I love you and salute you. My wife Laura loves you and salutes you. Democrats hate you and are currently giving you the finger. I leave you with something General Patton said a century ago while fighting the Japanese at Valley Forge…

“War is hell, but Dear God, I do so enjoy killing Albanians and eating beans from a can.” That pretty much says it all don’t it?

Happy Vedderans Day to all, and to all a good night. Shalom.

Thank you Mr. President, and to all of those who have protected this country over the years (including my late dad and my sister) thank you for your service.

Amen, and Cheers!!

Jeezuz, Matt-man, that was so good!! Funny!! Where DID you find that pit-cher?? My Dad served and my nephew is serving in the Marines and I do thank the armed forces from the bottom of my heart.

From one Catholic-school-educated-person-who doesn't practice anymore to another...

Who says "W" isn't a great orator.

OK everybody.

On this day all honor to those who have served when called. One out of four homeless are now war veterans. Help when you can.

Unfortunately, the Presidential speech strikes too close to home.

Teach: From one lapsed Catholic to another, a tip of the sacramental wine, and Cheers!!

Jeff: Ha..Thanks for stopping by and Cheers!!

Jamie: I guess I should try to be more over the type when I satirize Dubya; it was a little too on spot. Cheers!!

Hindsight is twenty-twenty. In this case I wish we'd been blind. The photo...oh my word....the photo is hard to lay my eyes upon.

Salute to those in our Armed Services - past and present.
