State of the Union: Nice Folks Everywhere

Today’s post is a hodgepodge of notes of gratitude and special wishes.

First of all, Something happened this weekend that reminded me of Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson. One of his former teammates, and I am paraphrasing, once said of Reggie:

“Reggie is a great guy…He would give anyone his last dollar, or the shirt off of his back. But he would hold a press conference to let everyone know about it.”

The reason that I thought of this this past weekend, was because someone did quite the opposite.

A longtime reader of mine was linking my site to a national political blog (Craig Crawford’s Trail Mix) in her comments upon that blog.

Several of those blog readers came to read my site because of her taking the time to give me a shout out. She did not even tell me that she had done it. I found out because I clicked onto Crawford’s site to see why I was getting so many hits from Crawford’s blog.

I want to thank this person for doing something I found to be very nice and all the while, not even tooting her own horn. I’ll toot it for her because she deserves it. I want to thank Jamie of Duward Discussion for her kind action.

If you get a minute, stop by her site and tell her, in the immortal words of Maj. Frank Burns, “It’s nice, to be nice, to the nice.” You can go there by clicking HERE. Thanks again, Jamie!!

Secondly, I must speak of the human freak show that is Roger of Idaho Daily Photo. He has photoshopped some pics of me and The Huckster for my site in the past.

Well, yesterday, without me making a request, he set out on his own to make the Matt Man for Prez graphic that you see in the upper right.

If you find it in your heart and in your schedule, swing by Roger’s site and give him a virtual pat on the back. You can pick up the code for the graphic there as well. To go there, click HERE. Thanks Buddy!!

And now, a special wish. I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to long time partaker of the Bagwine, Desert Songbird. She’s another year older, wiser, and hotter.

Rarely a day goes by that she doesn’t visit and leave me feeling lachrymose and suicidal the joy of a thousand angels.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND…ENJOY YOUR DAY!! To leave Songbird good wishes you can click HERE.

Enjoy tonight’s State of the Union address tonight. I know I will because it will be Dubya’s last one…Thank you God.

I just hope that this year they have subtitles so I can understand him for once.

Have a lovely Monday all.

Cheers!!

I have a confession - no, not *that* kind of confession - I voted for George W (and yes, I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse)and even *I* am glad this is the LAST State of the Union address.

Dana: We all stray from the realm of rational thought at times Dana ; ) Things can only get better from here on out, right?

Right? Please say it is so. Cheers!!

It is nice to be nice, so today I will not utter the name of the person I believe the Almighty has chosen to be your running mate...

hehehehehehe

Schmoop said...

Bond: Thank God. Cheers!!

Hey why not Matt for President, I know you. If you hadn't thought of running I probably would have voted none of the above lol! Thanks for the shout!!

Happy Birthday Songbird!!

Roger: Enjoy day dude. "It's Party Time in America, Again." Cheers!!

Going to read Jamie right now! She sounds real nice!

Real: Thanks. It is a change. Unlike my blog, her posts are usually well thought out and well written. Cheers!!

"I know I will because it will be Dubya’s last one…Thank you God."

Yeah, well apparently that's open for debate. From todays Washington Post:

"That is the problem Bush faces as he prepares to deliver his seventh and probably final State of the Union address tonight."

PROBABLY????

I see Craig Crawford on MSNBC all the time. He's pretty good. I like his commentary and he's got a good sense of humor. If his voice wasn't so damn similar to Pat Robertson's he'd be perfect. ;-)

Schmoop said...

Jay: Ha...WTF is this "probably" crap!!?

Crawford can get a little loud, but why did you have to compare his voice to that of Pat Robertson's?

I have no choice but to like Crawford less now. Praise Jeebus, and Cheers!!

Well, well, well. This would explain why I'm getting birthday wishes when I posted NOTHING about it on my own blog.

Thanks, darlin' - that means a lot to me.

Schmoop said...

Songbird: You are most welcome dear. I hope you have a great day, and many more B-Days to come. Cheers Darlin'!!

Now bend over and let me deliver a few Birthday spankings and gropes. Boo Yah!!

I have a headache.

If elected president, what would you do to abolish my dependency on Mountain Dew?

Schmoop said...

Leighann: Easy...I'd replace your fix with Matty-Dew. Cheers!!

Deb said...

When you're truly liked for your words, thoughts and style of writing - they (your fans) don't need to tell you about their promoting your blog - it comes naturally when it's genuine.

Cheers! Happy Monday Matt-Man! And send my birthday wishes for me!!!

Schmoop said...

Deb: Well put Deb. Have a Merry Monday Yourself. Cheers!!

Leighann said...

Matty-Dew huh?? I'll give just about anything a try.... but what are the side effects?

Schmoop said...

Leighann: Euphoria, Giggling, and best of all it's chock full of protein. Cheers!!

Leighann said...

Sold.

Schmoop said...

Leighann: Sold? Tsk, tsk...It is free for you. Cheers!!

Why would you be surprised by people doing something nice for you? You're a terrific writer and you manage to say what makes everyone else boil with anger until they can't speak!

That, and a guy who eats spam can't be all bad!

Is Matty-Dew sold in stores or only online?

Unknown said...

Morning prevert....to imply my son was fixing mommy. I'll let it slip, if you can fix this country...I don't ask much do I?
Why buddy you get blog love all over I bet.
Matty-Dew, Do you Just Dew IT?
Bad pun I know, I haven't watched the SoftheU address yet I need a sleeping pill tonight, thanks for the reminder, subtitles would be helpful.

Live, laugh and love Man!

Leighann said...

Free for lil ol' moi?

You're my new best friend.

Schmoop said...

Metal: You are too kind, but thank you. As far as Matty-Dew, you can contact me personally because it is only sold by, shall we say, word of mouth. Cheers!!

Mama: Ha...It was there I had to go there. Blog love yes, sweaty animalistic hot naked love...not so much. Cheer sand have a good one Mamasita!!

Leighan: Mmmmm. Bellisima. Cheers!!

Looks like we'll have a new national soft drink if you're elected. As good as that might be, I'm going to have to stick to something a little more palatable for my protien; like a pork chop or something.

Schmoop said...

Jeff: That may be wise. Matty-Dew is also referred to, in some unseemly circles, as "Morning Drip". Cheers!!

Matty Dew... may cause side effects such as oily flatulence, uncontrollable diarrhea and spontaneous erection in men.

Schmoop said...

108: you are confusing my Dew with ALLI. Cheers!!

Wow, you must be running for President...I haven't seen that many thank yous since the Academy Awards. I'd like to thank you for thanking people who in turn thanked somebody else....I thank

Turn on your TV's closed captioning...then you'll be able to catch everyone of Dubya's words. Lucky you! Personally I would rather baste myself in honey and sit in a nest of fire ants than watch the state of the union with him at the head of the government!

Schmoop said...

VE: Are you saying that I am pandering? If you are, let me tell you something mister...

You said it very well. Better than anyone I have ever heard in my life. Keep it up VE, you are a genius. Cheers!!

Schmoop said...

Raven: Ooooo baby. Honey and Fire Ants? You are kinky. I like it. Cheers!!

Sindi said...

Just came across your blog and it is very entertaining. I like what you have to say and your sense of humor. :-)

cathy said...

Go here, go there say n'do this that and the other...

...and you're not in the oval office yet. sheesh!

Schmoop said...

Cathy: Ha, yes I know, and I noticed that same thing after I posted this. You read my mind. Cheers!!

DirkStar said...

Dude!

If you need a translator for George W. Bush you have just put a serious crimp into getting my vote.

He speaks stoopid...

If you can't understand that language when you hear it then you're campaign is in serious trouble.

Man, just when I thought I'd found a candidate to believe in...

Schmoop said...

Dirk: You misunderstood me. I literally can't hear him.

When he speaks his special dialect of uber stupid, my mouth drops to the floor, and I can't hear him because of the swooshing sound of the air rushing into my gaping and astounded pie hole. Cheers!!

Doc said...

I can't understand that moron either... It really lowers my opinion of Skull and Bones.

Sandee said...

I just love Roger to pieces. I've already been over to Desert Songbird's place to wish her a Happy Birthday. Have a great day Matt-Man. :)

Schmoop said...

Doc: Ha...I wasn't expecting a S&B reference. Very Good. Maybe it should be known as Empty Skull and Boneheads. Cheers!!

Sandee: Yeah, I love Roge rto pieces too. I'd like to love him into many pieces. Cheers!!

DirkStar said...

I've posted a little news of my own this evening...

Travis Cody said...

Ya big softy!

I hope you don't think less of me for skipping the speech tonight. It'll be the 7th in a row I have skipped and I want to keep my streak going.

Cinnamon Girl said...

State of the Union? And here I thought I was watching Bedtime for Bozo with Dubya reading us another fairy tale. My bad ;)

Schmoop said...

Dirkstar: 10-4...I'll be by.

Travis: That is indeed a good streak to keep intact. Cheers!!

Starr: America Hater!! Cheers!!

Marilyn said...

Did I imagine it or did Bush use the word Hispanish? Who was he talking about?

Schmoop said...

Marilyn: Ha...I fell asleep, but that does sound like something he would say. Cheers!!

Durward Discussion said...

Thank you kind sir. Everyone is welcome to drop in. Usually I try to keep the political and the personal in separate compartments, but not today.
