Michael Jackson Memorial Service: A Portrait of Greed

It’s Tuesday July 7th, 2009 and if it’s Tuesday July 7th, 2009 it’s…

Wall-to-Wall Coverage of the Michael Jackson Memorial Service© Sponsored by Joe Jackson ™, Coming to Ya Live from the Staples Center® in Los Anguhleez, Caleeforneeuh!!

Boy Howdy!!

I’m just glad that I listen to talk radio during the day before I go to work, because to watch Michael Jackson being lionized, canonized, and eulogized all day on TV by people who have nothing but dollar signs in their heads, would be nausea inducing.

Jackson was on one level an eccentric and uber-talented entertainer…and on another level, other than in the terms and conditions of our legal system, an emaciated, drug and alcohol addicted child molester.

In life as well as in death, Jackson is a figure that is both sad and lamentable. He was the personification of Dorian Gray’s picture.

The difference is that, while portraits and videos of Jackson will forever show him to be a performer of infinite artistry and talent, Jackson himself had devolved into a macabre and disconsolate shell of a man.

And ironically, while Dorian Gray used others in order to secure his eternal future, in Jackson’s death, others are using the memory of Michael Jackson in order to secure their financial future here on Earth.

The ugliness of unbridled greed and opportunism has already reared its ugly head in the wake of Jackson’s demise.

While father, Joe Jackson “mourns” his son’s death, he speaks of a concert tour and a new record label that he is developing.

Spiritual svengali and race baiting charlatan Rev. Al Sharpton, has dirtied the time of mourning by claiming that Jackson’s death has been treated negatively by the media because he was a black man.

Sharpton claims that Elvis and Sinatra were never treated poorly in death like Jackson because well, Elvis and Sinatra were white.

Are you kidding me?

Elvis’ drug addiction was and has been well covered. Sinatra? Okay not so much, but other than providing a subplot for the movie, The Godfather, what the hell did Frankie do?

The issues with Jackson’s alleged child molestation, hanging his kid out the window, and his penchant for bodily reengineering are part of him, and in his later years defined him.

It’s part of who he was, get over it, Crazy (Like a Fox) Al. But…I know Al won’t get over it. You know why?

Because Sharpton can get some face time and make a few bucks off of Jackson’s death…just like Papa Joe is doing and will continue to do.

In fact, I think those two drips of taint sweat ought to think big, and postulate beyond a mere Jackson family tour in honor of Michael.

They could put together a concert tour that encompasses the best of several deceased musicians.

The show could consist of The Jackson Four, The Carpenter, The Righteous Brother, The Mama, and to really bring the house down, The Fab Two.

Al and Joe could call it the, “Living Off the Dead Tour”.

Hell yeah, Bitches!! I smell the aroma of some pecuniary possibilities in the simmering of that idea.

Of course, I am probably a day late and a dollar short, because I’m sure that Al and Joe have already thought of that.

For those who loved and/or idolized Michael Jackson in spite of his warts, peculiarities, and troubling proclivities, today’s service will be a time of sadness.

I am not one of those who loved Jackson, or one who enjoyed his music, but, I will feel a sense of sadness.

My sadness, however, will come later when I see parasites like Al Sharpton and Joe Jackson feeding off of the talent and memory of Michael Jackson.

But there is some solace…

Somewhere, hung upon a cloistered wall, there are portraits of Shaprton, Papa Joe, and others like them…and those portraits?

Those portraits are more in keeping with the picture of Dorian Gray.

Cheers!!

Tuesday will be spent either away from the television, or watching pre-recorded stuff that's actually entertaining, or I'll be napping or spending time with the kids. Anything instead of being immersed in Michael Mourning. Ick.

Songbird: It's going to be a gratuitous freak show. And it won't be MJ's doing for once. Cheers!!

I really don't think there is any need for every damn network to show the funeral. That's just freaking crazy.

I wouldn't watch it, but hundreds of thousands of people out on the streets in a city known for throwing some EPIC riots has me thinking maybe I should. I would hate to miss out on some good chaos and mayhem.

Also, the city of Los Angeles is some $200 million dollars in debt. I don't guess the Jackson family or anyone is willing to pony up the money the city will be spending on the extra police that will be needed? No? I didn't think so.

Jay: I feel the same way you do as far as watching in case there is a human train wreck in the works, but I have to ask...

Why are you such a Cynical Bastard? Oh wait...Cheers Jay!!

the reverse Dorian Gray really resonates with me.

I think Michael Jackson was amazingly talented in songwriting and performing...and his musical legacy will endure for quite a while.

The family has circled the wagons...and Joe is pretty much on the outside at this point. Rev Al is way off base...but isn't that his shtick?

Michael never grew up emotionally...partially by his childhood experiences...and partially because he did not want to. While his behavior with children was bizarre and uncomfortable to most I do not believe it was ever sexual or pedophilial in nature.

I feel a great deal of compassion for his mother and his children.

It will be a total cluster from here on out.

Kat: Thanks to those around him, the news of MJ in death, will be more of circus than it was when he was alive.

As for Sharpton...He has but one talen, and that is being Al Sharpton. He does it well and the media cover him because he is always good TV and full of witty and/or outrageous comments. Cheers Kat!!

I enjoyed MJ's music and thought he was very talented. It is a shame that his Father broke him. I lean toward Kat's thinking, While his behavior with children was bizarre and uncomfortable to most I do not believe it was ever sexual or pedophilial in nature. mostly because I want to. I think the death and funeral coverage is way way over the top but then the media is all about the almighty buck too. As for Al Sharpton this fucker just blows :)

Lu: Hey I argue not with those who liked his music...millions of albums/CDs sold can't be wrong. It was just a matter of my musical tastes.

Yeah MJ was not right in the head for a myriad of reasons, and baby, you believe whatever ya want to. I have no quibble with that.

And lastly, I agree wholeheartedly. Sharpton is a douchebag. Cheers Pal!!

Al Sharpton is a piece of work for sure but it's his schtick to show up when the cameras are running and he can make an issue racial.

Michael was a fantastic entertainer and undoubtedly one of the most creative people in the world of music today.

The parents who dropped their children at Neverland Ranch for repeated sleepovers with a 40 year old man should be prosecuted for child abuse. I have serious doubts that Michael sexually abused them but the parents definitely pimped them out.

That's what I have to say.

Cheers

Any grown man who wanted little children to sleep in the same bed with him had some serious issues going on.

Was he a pedophile? A child molester?

Don't know, I wasn't in the room, but I tend to think he was.

I still don't know how any parent could in good conscience allow their child to be put into that situation. (Greedy Bastards)

Sharpton...well, he's as big of a freak as Jackson, just for different reasons.

The whole Jackson thing has made me so uncomfortable for so long that I'm kinda glad its over... and I know that's a terrible thing to say, but I just don't wanna see his face in the news and be confronted with those issues in the presence of my family any more. I don't know if he was a pedophile or not, but the mere rumor of it has caused some family conversations that have left me wanting to dope slap most of my relatives at one point or another... of course this just means the issue will come up in other ways.

Schmoop said...

David: Yes indeed...Sharpton is a piece of work alright. As for the parents. Yes, that is a bit of "are ya fuckin' stupid" in action. Cheers David!!

Jeff: I think I see a trend in the how people feel about Al Sharpton subject. Cheers!!

Candice: You are such a rock star. Cheers Candice!!

Marilyn: Ha. "Dope Slap". You crack me up. Cheers Marilyn!!

What makes me want to vomit is the way everyone has deified him. Get a life people; he was just a human! And a very warped one at that.

VE totally stole my line.

However, i DO want to say that all this coverage is making me SICK. SICK.

Schmoop said...

Songbird: But he was a celebrity. That's all soooo many care about anymore. Cheers!!

VE: Yes VE...He died shortly after having an affair with an Argentine chick and resigning as Governor of Alaska. Cheers!!

Vodka: Oh Dear God, I hope it all ends soon. Cheers!!

None of the coverage has bothered me in the slightest. Why you ask? Because I have exercised my right to not pay attention to it.

Travis: You are a wise man, Travis. Cheers!!
