Slam Dunks and Room Service

On the homefront, my little man had one heckuva time at the Cleveland Cavalier’s basketball game against the New Jersey Nets Saturday night. The Cavs won, he and his mom had top notch seats, and when they got back to their hotel room they called room service and ordered a pizza. When you’re 12 years old, calling room service is living large!!

Prior to his trip to Cleveland, he and I went to breakfast Saturday morning and then he had his first organized basketball game. His team won handily, and the 5 foot 1 1/2 inch shooting guard from Bagwine, Ohio had 4 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 steal. If he keeps improving and doesn’t succumb to the seductive wiles of Wild Irish Rose, in ten years he will be playing in the NBA. He can then by me a new house, and since I will be 52 years old and still smoking, a new oxygen tent as well.

Those were the weekend highlights. I will be back later today with some humorous insights on a subject or two that is most likely irrelevant and infantile, but then again, would you expect any less?
Cheers…

NOTE: I am going to begin posting the entries to the New Year’s Eve Date Writing Contest tomorrow, so we will soon know who gets to wear my boxer shorts!!

Matty me boy, how are ya? I hope you had a wonderful weekend yourself.

I'm so glad your son had a great time at the game Saturday. I'll bet he couldn't tell you which was better - the room service or seeing King James play. My daughter and I had were gifted with two tickets for this Thursday night's Suns game -- Steve Nash versus Le Bron! Booyha! Should be a barn burner.

Sounds likes your son will be a stellar player himself; great stats. My daughter managed two buckets, two steals, and two rebounds in the second game of her doubleheader - despite being worn out. She's not the greatest athlete, but she tries hard.

Can't wait to read the New Year's Date submissions!

Songbird, although the room service was great, to him, nothing tops watching King James. He likes Steve Nash alot too. You are quite the lucky ticket holder, that will be a great game.

My son hasnt been overly athletic until his mom and I got him a B-Ball hoop last Easter..He just has a kncck for being a good shot and he practices everyday!! Hope your weekend went well too...Cheers!!

Sounds like a great weekend for your son (and you too). When he makes it to the NBA, he can buy you not only a new house and an oxygen tent, but maybe some "recreation" too.

Wow...that little guy is having the time of his life, isn't he? That's awesome. Some of my best memories are of those times when everything was carefree. He'll have a ton of good stories and warm fuzzies about the parents.

Lizza: Excellent point!! "Hey son the house is nice and everything, but can you score me some Rose and a hot piece of ass?"

Nat: I talked to him yesterday morning and he was on cloud nine. I sometimes miss being a kid, but I still have great memories. Cheers, Nat.

Someone else may get to wear your boxers, but I'll always be the one who twirls your monkey.

By the way, congrats on knowing what 'pp' means. (And here I was expecting you to give some raunchy twisted definition)...

Thanks for the monkey twirls Janna. I played cornet for six years or so, and have been teaching myself piano off and on for awhile.

So cool to get to see your first big time sporting event live... and then, yes you are correct...room service is the tops when you are that age.

Dang, I found you too late ..so I have no idea what that contest is about... though I am not sure i want to wear your boxers....

I like to think it's the hope of any great parent to wish fame on their children in that they might get an early retirement... ;) I'm glad your Sweetman had an awesome time and made it out of Cleveland otherwise unscathed. ;)

Glad the weekend went well--making memories is so cool.

Can't wait to read the submissions.

He had a blast Boy...

Bond: When I was a kid the only room service I got was when Mom would bring a bowl of gruel to me when I was confined for misbehaving. There's a link in the groups to the contest.

Allie: My retirement plan relies on one of two things. My son making the NBA or me hitting the lottery. And yes, they managed to leave Cleveland in one piece.

TB: It is indeed Turnbaby...I hope yo uhad a good weekend, and yeah there's a few chuckles in the enetries.

He is odat...H'es funny, smart, and respectful, but the times when he and I play b-ball are really damaging my aging body!!

Room service is only good after a long shag-a-thon. But let him find out on his own...of course that should only be in about 3 decades, non?

Schmoop said...

I prefer room service DURING a long shag-a-thon...AddS excitement!!

If he doesn't make it to the NBA you can always send him over here to team Batten! I'll take care of him.
