Things Could Suck Worse I Guess

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday full of presents, good drink, and hot experimental sex. For me, two out of three ain’t bad. My son helped me to have a good Christmas. It was wonderful listening to him go on and on about getting tickets for the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game. His uncle and aunt gave him and his mom two tickets and a hotel room for this weekend’s game. So, the four of them will be trekking to Cleveland on Saturday. I hope little man snags a couple of autographs. That would light his face up brighter than a supernova and shinier than my balding head. Good Luck Sweetman.

I had a great time on Christmas Eve with my brothers and sisters. We exchanged gifts, memories, and bodily fluids a few drinks. Good times, good times. I spent Christmas Eve night, as I always do, with my son and his mom, so I can see him open some of his presents on Christmas morning before they go to his Grandpa’s. No fights, no words of anger, just the sound of his mom wrapping, and my son and I eating Pizza Rolls and Chex Mix as we watched Christmas Story for the nth time.

I spent the majority of Christmas Day with Schmoop and her brother. A few cocktails, some snacks, and time spent joyously talking about people that annoy us. Does it get any better than that? Merry Christmas to me!!

New Year’s Eve was spent quietly abusing my liver with WIR and pondering on my direction for the New Year. I had an epiphany…my life sucks. Well, a great deal of it does. Well, mostly just professionally. I had hopes that I could be writing for a living at this point in my life, but sadly I guess writing about the escapades of a gay Josef Stalin can only carry one so far. Seriously though, I feel pretty empty about that part of my life, and need to resolve that issue.

I do have a great kid however. I get to hang around with my best friend Schmoop and her brother, who, by the way, is like a brother to me. And of course, to you, all of my Buddies of the Blogosphere who put a smile on my face everyday, I truly appreciate you all. In fact, there are many of you who I would like to have hot sweaty animalistic sex with get to know better. So I guess my life isn’t completely horrible. It’s merely quasi-sucky, so maybe I’ll make giving up smoking my resolution. If I resolve to only smoke a cigarette after having sex, my lungs will be cleared up in no time.

I want to thank all of you who have welcomed me back and passed by my site while I was enjoying the holiday. I also want to thank Bobby Griffin of “Bestest Blog” for giving me a year end shout out on his site (also thanks to the Mo-Man). My biggest thanks go to my friend, muse, and all-around great human being, Allison. The Gouda Girl kept my site from drifting into the blog abyss during my time off, and for that, I am truly grateful. Thanks Allie!!

So there you go…a sappy post by the Matt-Man, but altogether true. I want to thank those of you who entered the New Year’s Date humor contest. I am reviewing the entries and will post and announce the winners by January 8th. I received some funny stuff, and only one, (Cheesy’s account of her time with Cleopatra) is X-Rated. Yes, it indeed would have given former Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, “wood”.

Until the ‘morrow, Happy New Year to all and Cheers…

Matt-Man, so glad you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and with your son especially. I'm sure he was thrilled to see LeBron and the boys in person -- I would be!

I am sorry, though, about your lack of professional and sexual satisfaction. Perhaps the new year will bring you fulfillment in both areas.

In the meantime, keep posting and we'll all share the love with you (at least virtually).

Mwah!

I got my nephew front row, right behind the home team dugout, tickets to a Cardinals game for his 11th birthday. PR connections will do that. They always have corporate seats. He got a lot of autographs. Your son will love it.

Low key New Years here. It was nice not living right off of Times Square.

Hey Ya Odat, good to see ya. Fortunately I am more pissed than depressed so I can use that for motivation. I hope your year goes well too. My monkey told me to tell you that he loves you.

Hhi Songbird. My son goes this coming Saturday, the 6th. He is wearing his LeBron jersey and taking LeBron basketball. If he gets his autograph he's gonna pee his pants!! And Mwah right back at ya.

Hey There Adav. Yeah, he has seats at center court not too far back. His uncle got them through a big time banker friend of his. He'll have a hoot. And I am sure your New Years was much less loud. Good to see ya : )

Matty, my boy, good to see ya!
Good grief man, I went through Bagwine withdrawl last week!

Let me just say: I TOTALLY can relate to your feelings about the writing career. I'm just thankful that in this day & age we can get some readership/feedback via our blogsites.

I've been depressed lately, and didn't want to do a downer of a New Year's Date contest entry, but I look forward to reading the rest of them -- including Cheesy doin' time with Cleopatra!

Glad you're back, my friend,
mo

Glad to be back Mo. And Cheesy getting it on with Cleo is not quite what you think!!

Oh you just snuck in when my back was turned..bad boy!

Sounds like a lovely Christmas...New Year sounded like mine - drunken....gah!...too old for such shenanigans...my body protested all day yesterday.

Anyway - welcome back to Blog Land - and Happy New Year ...maybe we'll both get our novels published and get us some nooky too, this year.

Well I can dream, non?

Aw sweetie, I got a little misty reading this post. I can relate to the whole writing issue big time, but you know that. :)

I think my depression curve is a little bit different than yours, though. I was ultra-depressed (and a little busy, of course) in the weeks leading up to Christmas and I just started coming out of it right around New Years.

Here's to new beginnings!

Wendz: Yeah getting much too old to keep up a New Year's Eve partying pace. Hmmmm...novels and nooky? Sounds like a good porn movie title. BTW, I couldnt find a spot to post a comment on your site!!

Allie: Dont get all misty on me and I'm not depressed much just frustrated. To the New Year my friend.

Oh you've gone all white and bright...need my shades now.

I fixed the broken comments link...ta!

OK, so I have been seeing this "Matt-man" guy on many sites I visit and have friends at. Picked up on it because my son is a Matt.

Then this weekend, I see the rerun of you BBOTD over at Bobby's place and stopped over to find reruns hosted by Gouda Girl.

So, I sat down and read about this dinner party (I LOVE giving dinner parties). The guests, perfectly chosen. The menu, thoughtfully planned out.

And throughout the entire read of all three episodes, I could NOT stop laughing.

One funny guy. Might have to camp out here more often.
Happy New Year.

Wendz: The green was starting to make me nauseous. And I saw that you fixed it. You're such the tekkie.

Bond: Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the link on your site. I'll make sure to reciprocate no later than tomorrow. Glad you got a chuckle!! Cheers...

Matt-Man: I can't believe my friend Bond is just getting around to visiting you. I thought he'd been here all along -- you two are perfectly suited to each other (i.e., same wicked sense of humor).

BTW, I read over at Jannaverse that you are facing your 42nd birthday next month? Is that right? Crikey! You're a baby!

Glad to hear you´ve spent a peaceful Christmas =)

I´m suffering from a kind of "New Year´s Depression" as well, but I confess: I could not stop smoking =(
Writing you about the two dates I´ve had on NYE was my first highlight this year. I´ve had lots of fun while painting and building the slide.
I hope you recieved the mail yesterday?! I used the "bored?"-button to send it...

I´m sure 2007 is going to be a great year for you and this cool place. I´ll keep my fingers crossed for you, my friend.

I'm so glad you're back. I missed out on much laughing while you were gone...and I didn't write one haiku or limerick. I even had a streaming new years b/c I missed streaming Friday so much. Allie, of course, did a great job holding down the fort for you, but I need some new ruminations!!!

Welcome back to the blogosphere! We really missed you! I had to make up my OWN jokes about televangelists while you were gone-- and they sucked! (My jokes, not the televangelists).
I also know what it's like to be frustrated and depressed, so I hope you know you're welcome to rant to us any time you want!

Your boy is sure to enjoy the game. My liver strangely wasn't abused at all on New Year's Eve. I think I'm starting to get old. :-)

It's so good to have you back!
