Although I rarely discuss it, I am a huge sports fan, especially a fan of College Football. Being of an Irish Catholic background I have been a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish since the time I could pronounce “Joe Theismann”.
If you have been following college football this season you know that this year Notre Dame’s football team is playing less like Notre Dame teams of the past and more like St. Rita’s Middle School of Guilt and Prevention of Nocturnal Emissions. In a word, they “suck”.
The only thing that has somewhat taken the sting out of watching their ungodly performance is that I have enjoyed watching the bastards from the University of Michigan lose their first two games as well. I have, and always will despise the Wolverines.
These two sinking ships will meet in Ann Arbor on Saturday. In seasons past, this game may have been referred to as “The Game of the Century” or “One for the History Books”, however this year I am referring to this meeting as the “Who Sucks The Most Bowl”. Unfortunately, I think Michigan will beat the crap out of the Irish and Notre Dame will be crowned the suckiest. On the upside, thinking about this “bowl” game gave me some ideas of new bowl games that should be played this upcoming Holiday season.
Move over Rose Bowl, get out of the way Sugar Bowl, and Orange Bowl, go squeeze yourself, following is the list of the hot NEW bowl games…
Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Wisconsin Badgers in the “Who’s The Bigger Rodent Bowl”
Michigan State Spartans vs. USC Trojans in the “History Channel Mythology Bowl”
Tulane Green Wave vs. Alabama Crimson Tide in the “Al Gore Global Climate Change Bowl”
Illinois Fightin’ Illini vs. LaSalle Explorers in the “ Merck Small Pox Bowl”
San Diego State Aztecs vs. Arizona State Sun Devils in the “George Hamilton Sun Worshippers Bowl”
And lastly, the
Washington Huskies vs. Georgia Bulldogs in the “Alpo/Michael Vick Canine Bowl”
So there you have it. A few ideas to put some fresh air into the College Bowl Schedule. One good thing, in spite of their record, Notre Dame will always have a berth in the following bowl game:
Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Wooster Fighting Scots in the “Who Hates England More Bowl”.
Until the morrow’, Cheers!!

Not such a big fan of college football....but i would like to see some of the NEW bowl games....lol...particularly the Alpo/Michael Vick Bowl!
Peace
Odat: Ha...It's a brutal bowl game...The winner gets a check and a trophy, the loser gets shot. Cheers!!
Yeah I saw Georgia spank Notre Dame. Been a ND fan since that fateful Cottonbowl in the 70's. That is what actually sparked my interest in football.
The Alpo/Michael Vick Bowl..omfg, I choked on my hashbrowns :P
Not a fan of college football, or football at all for that matter, but I am all in it when it comes to Super Bowl... wings and beer are more my sport!
Cheers buddy!
Starrlight; Someday the irish will rise again, sorry 'bout your Hashbrowns.
Deb: Wings and Beer sound great...Hike my friend.
I hate organized sports the way most people hate religion... still, this was a fun post. Who wouldn't want to see the Who Hates England More Bowl?
Even though you are not a fan of the Buckeyes, we can at least unite over our hatred of Michigan. The Bucks are gonna suck big time this year too... stupid ass freshman quarterback. lol
Oh and the name of your Catholic school had me wetting my pants with laughter. Very nicely done.
“Alpo/Michael Vick Canine Bowl”
LMFAO
I feel towards the dawgs as you do about the pitiful wolverines...
If ND can wear them down in the first quarter they will be victorious... they are WAY outta shape!
Goooooooooooooo Ducksssssssss!
This football thing, its important, right?
Marilyn: Damn Straight Marilyn, England should burn!!
Allie: Dry out your panties and join me in my Wolverine loathing!!
Cheesy: Enjoy your year the Ducks looked pretty damn good!!
Boy: It's the Manchester United or Chelsea of America!!
Hey, a game Illinois may actually win. I am still on a perpetual high over the ducks win. I bet NBC is cursing Charlie Weis and Lloyd Carr right about..... now.
I'm in for the “Al Gore Global Climate Change Bowl” - can't wait!
I think the Sun Devils play the Duke Blue Devils in the "Worship Satan Now - Do You Think He Looks Better in Blue or Red? - Bowl" as well. The loser has to play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Matthew...where are the Bruins?
Merck Small Pox Bowl
I stand and applaud!!
I'm too tired and hungry to say much more than GO IRISH! I hate those rodent Wolverines, and I laugh maniacally over their loss again, although I'm astounded that the Nike Ducks did such a commendable job of representing the Slack-10 conference.
Oh, BTW - we have The Big Ten Network on Dish now, so LOTS of great football. Ten yards and cloud of dust (although, now that they have turf, THAT'S not a good catch phrase anymore...)
Sparky: I'm still sure those NBC folks are aming money off of the Irish. They just sell plenty of beer ad time to pacify the crying Irish fans.
Laura:I was going to have the Demon Deacons play the Blue Devils in the Good vs. Evil Bowl. Cheers!!
Katherine: We could have UCLA vs. TCU in the Alphabet Bowl!!
TB: Why Thanks!! And congrats on keeping your show going.
Songbird: Big 10? Great Football? Ya mean like Ohio State vs. the Akron Zips last Saturday!?
Since my move out west, I've been enjoying the PAC 10 myself. :)
Ok, the 'Cuse and the Fighting Irish attended St. Rita's together.
Matt-man I love your bowls!
that sounds kinda sick.
Now that was funny... well done!
Alpo/Michael Vick *snarf*
The Alpo/Vick Bowl would be great! For Half time, forget the marching bands. We could put Vick in there with the team mascots and the have it be a "bring you dog to the game day," so all of the fan's dogs could get a bit of the action as well.
Well that made me laugh in spite of my extreme disappointment in the Irish this season.
And I fear you are correct that ND will very likely get thrashed in Ann Arbor this Saturday. When was the last time the Golden Domers went 0-11?
Seriously, they could easily be 0-8 when Navy comes to South Bend, and I'm not convinced they can beat the Midshipmen.
It's looking ugly.
I could get huffy... but I won't...
im kind of a basketball fan...but i try to watch football every now and then to keep up my manliness!
I meant Big 10 football in general. No, that Zips game wasn't high powered; both offenses were anemic to start the game. Thankfully the Bucks woke up. Yeah, I know how you feel about them, but you know how we feel about them here in the birdcage.
Anyway, Big 10 football "in general" was my thinking. I'd rather watch anemic Big-10 football than Slack-10 football (I got bored with the Sun Devils bashing of the Buffs.).
I am beginning to become insulted by these Slack 10 comments. I do hope the Songbird knows why most Big 10 games are on mid-afternoons, so you have something nice to fall asleep to, right?
Yo, Spark, I earned a degree from a Slack-10 university, so I have a modicum of loyalty to my alma mater.
As for the timing of the games, shall I refrain from using the phrase "time zones?" Ah, no, I won't.
TIME ZONES! TIME ZONES!
Travis: It's gonna be a big ugly year.
Anndi: Get huffy...You're sexy when you're huffy.
Jay: Ha...Thanks for stopping by, I'll stop by soon.
Sparky and Songbird: Back away from each other and dont start throwing punches.
oh even better a morning nap
