Lewis Carroll Goes Spiritual

Off all today, so last night we were drinking a few when an epiphany ensconced my vacationing mind.

It came to me that Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky can be sung to the tune of Amazing Grace!!

I hope you enjoy this video that puts a musical spin on my week of banality.

And Knight, once again, you get to you enjoy my midwest accent that you seem to love so much.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!...

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe...

Flesh-Fest 2 has begun, but when not drenched in carnal sweat, I will be around.

Cheers!!

In all honesty....I could not get myself to listen to that little sing along.

Way too slithy, mome and frumios. And I can't believe all of that Tumtum with uffish, tulgey borogoves.

Back in my drunken slutty days I was called Bandersnatch. Good Times!

Promise me you will sing that at my funeral. It's going in my living will.

Ah yes, I do love that accent. When you sing with a little southern twang I think George Clooney in Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

I recently learned you can sing Amazing Grace to the tune of Gilligan's Island theme song. Just think "Twas Blind but now I see." meets up with "A Three hour tour."

Schmoop said...

Dianne: It would be my pleasure...er...I mean honor to sing at your funeral Mizz Bandersnatch. Cheers Di!!

Knight: Ha. Thanks. And I am gonna give that Gilligan's Island thing a try. Cheers Knight!!

I'm definitely going to try to work the word "bandersnatch" int a conversation today.

Excellent vocal rendition dude. You're almost as smooth as Sinatra when you sing.

Schmoop said...

Jay: I think we are all going to bring Bandersnatch into modern usage.

And thanks, but I would have sounded better if I wasn't well on to my way to Shit-Facedville. Cheers Jay!!

No one but you could be so brilliant! Bravo! Oh, and woot! woot! for Fleshfest2!

Marilyn said...

Wow. That was truely original. I think you should try some Shakespear to the tune of a beach boys song.

Marilyn said...

Okay, on second thought it wasn't really original, since both the tune and the words came from elsewhere, but it was unlike anything I've ever heard before.

Schmoop said...

Al: You have such high brow musical tastes. Cheers!!

Winter: Why thank you much...on both counts. Cheers!!

Marilyn: Shakespeare and the Beach Boys? It has huge possibilities. Cheers Funny Girl!!
