On yesterday's post, I mocked the impending doom of the remnants of Hurricane Ike's visit to the Bagwine Valley.
Well, slap me on the ass and call me Tina. Ike smacked Bagwine, Ohio upside the head with atypical fury for this region.
For several hours yesterday, winds were consistently blowing at 50 mph with higher gusts.
The high gust in Bagwine reached a peak of 78 mph.
Trees are down all over the place and there is roof damage galore 'round here.
Hundreds of thousands in Southwest Ohio are still without power, and hundreds of schools and businesses are closed.
Our power was off from 5 P.M. Sunday until 1 A.M. this morning. We just got the internets and phone back about an hour ago.
I will be working all day today, but I leave you with a few pictures that were sent in to our local newspaper.
With any luck, things will soon be back to normal and come Tuesday, I'll be able to catch back up with all of you wunnerful people.
Until then...
Cheers!!

Something to keep in mind, Mother Nature only haas a sense of humor when she is the one telling the joke. Glad to read you are ok. I was worried about you and yours this morning :) I almost emailed you but...
Lu: Thank ya very much. Funny thing...We stayed open until 6 last night. It's amazing how many people still want to buy beer even when all Hell is breaking loose. More on that tomorrow. Cheers Lu!!
We didn't get the winds, but instead got 12" of rain in 36 hours, compliments of Ike - and I didn't even mock Mother Nature!
Dana: That's a lot of water alright. Especially for someone who didn't mock. To mock, or not to mock; that is the question. Cheers Dana!!
Wow, I'm glad you're ok. These picture are amazingly scary. That's quite a long time to be without power.
Hope you're all doing ok!
{{hugs}}
Cheesy: Damn Staright I will. How dare him!? Cheers Cheesy!!
Deb: We are actually one of the lucky ones. We live across the street from a hospital, so our power was one of the first restored. Many others will be w/o for a couple of days. We're just ducky, thanks. Cheers!!
Odd how that storm reacted after hitting land - my nephew NW of Dallas didn't get squat, and the Midwest got pounded.
Glad to hear that you and Schmoop came out of the storm unscathed.
Holy Crackers Matt-Man!
and to think I joined you in mocking Ike yesterday!
Glad you're OK and so sorry about all that destruction.
That car photo looks like a typical morning in Brooklyn. Oh crap! I'm mocking again.
Never mind. I love you Mother Nature.
Ooops almost forgot - we lost power from 7 to 10 PM last night. Wish I could say storms or even sympathy power loss but alas it was somebody leaving TGIF in an altered state. At least they took out a conduit box and not a car full of kids. Asshats!
Ike skirted us...had some wind ...a tad of rain...and some interesting cloud formations and nothing more...
Glad you are OK...Bet you will be busy - all those folks at home...nothing to do but DRINK!
Ike always was a badassmuthafucka wasn't he?
Glad you and the sweet one are okay.
We had some strong winds, but nothing like Bagwine. It blew a plastic chair into the pool. Not so devastating. We just fished it out.
Looks like your neighbors have quite the mess to clean up. Wishing them luck!
Ike just skimmed past us here, only some heavy rains and winds for one night. We ended up with very limited damage here.
Luckily Ike was too busy answering your challenge. Yes, I think everyone in Bagwine is going to be blaming you for this Matt-Man.
I hear a couple of them have even contacted their lawyers. ;-)
I hope none of that was yours!
I live in fear of three trees that are starting to shift around my house. I used to tell myself that they were trying to lift themselves up by the roots to walk away, but I think it's more like they will fall on yours truly and squish me like a bug!
Well I hope you at least grabbed that stereo before you snapped that car shot! Man..I haven't been over to visit in ages. Moving is hell...Cheers!
I just can't get flying potato chips out of my mind. Are you OK?
I quote part of your post from Jay's blog last week that I felt was rather sad when I read it.
"Anything that Ike does to Texas can only be an improvement."
I guess it came back to bite you in the ass. Hmmm...doesn't surprise me.
Would you like some cheese with that "whine"?
Sorry, but you tend to have no regards to how impacting your words can be. Have you watched the devistation of Galviston?
When are you going to realize saying things like that hurts others. Not me, it didn't do anything but make me shake my head in disgust. But for God's sake Matt, you need to know where that fine line is. Really, you do.
Evil: Yeah, you guys soaked up there. We barely got a quarter inch of rain. Glad to hear you're drying out. Cheers EG!!
Songbird: It was odd because friction usually tears the crap out of those systems. Wacky how isobar differentiation works. Cheers!!
Dianne: Well, to mock is to live. Glad your power is back, and Ha. The car pic looked liked a typical weekend on the west end of Bagwine as well. Cheers!!
Bond: I was swamped today and we were one of the few places with ice. Alot of houses are still w/o power. We sold out. Cheers!!
RLL: There's quite a few more of those pictures all across the county. Cheers to Ya!!
Jay: I'll take the blame. I have big shoulders. Even from the grave, Ike is one bad mutha. Cheers Jay!!
Metal: No, I just used pics from the newspaper. All the ones I took were at night so they didn't come out very well. Cheers Squish Bug!!
VE: I have been tied up of late as well. Ha. It does look like a crime scene. Cheers!!
Micky: Ha. A box chips frickin' flew off of the shelf yesterday. I thought of you. It almost hit me. I chuckled. Cheers!!
Kimmie: Doggone it, you're right. Cheers!!
You got hit hard. Wow.
...good thing the real Ike's dead....
Karen: It wasn't incredibly bad compared to others but for Ohio, outside of a tornado, it was a good shot. Cheers!!
Phfrankie: He'd be at my doorstep right now. Cheers P-Man!!
watching all the storm damage from ohio to texas....I'll take an earthquake any day over that.
(glad you two are okay!)
Kat: I don't know a big earthquake compared to wind damage? I'll take the wind. Cheers!!
Glad to see that you and Schmoop made it through.
Travis: Thanks, Trav. Now, if I can just catch up with all of you guys. Cheers!!
Ouch. Who knew Ike was such a windbag?
Lex: I still can't use to typing that!! Anyway...He was as much of a wind bag as poor Tina was punching bag. Cheers!!
Yikes! That looks like my neighborhood two weeks ago! I'm so sorry about the devastation but glad you are all right. We're still digging out in Phoenix. Lots of roofs with tarps and piles of trees on the curbs waiting to be chipped and hauled away. Mother Nature doesn't mess around!
I'm glad you're okay. Sorry about your car though.
Desert Rat: We still have thousands w/o power today. I'm oneof the lucky ones. Cheers Rat!!
Marilyn: We're fine, and fortunately that wasn't my car. Cheers!!
Yikes!
Starr: It was kinda bad, but idiots around here who aren't used to being inconvenienced made things worse than they were. Cheers!!
