I have made no secret that I am not a huge fan of Obama.
I have and will always will, had a man-crush on Joe Biden…and, after he dropped out of the Presidential race, I voted in the Ohio primary for Hillary.
Obama, to me, is a smooth talker (which I do appreciate), but is a master of vagaries.
I don’t doubt his love of country, like some right wingers do, I just wonder if he has the balls to change things.
With that being said, I have a bit of an anti-McCain rant to level…
As a former campaign manager for local and statewide political campaigns, I have one rule that isn’t exclusive to my own thinking.
If you are going to go negative…define yourself first.
Palin/McCain has yet to do that. In fact, they are now being defined by their own negativism.
It’s easy to throw around quick, pithy sound bites about Barack Obama “pallin’ around” with terrorists, in the case of Bill Ayres.
It’s fun to question Obama’s AMERICAN Christianity by espousing the less than virtuous teachings of Jeremiah Wright.
It’s politically expedient to question, Senator Obama’s patriotism.
All of these arguments are ignorantly visceral, inane, and desperate. Whose fault is this? McCain first, but a close second is the Evangelical Right.
The Republican Party has lost it’s heart and more ironically, it’s soul, to the right wing Evangelical demands of the party.
The crushing economic troubles of these days illuminate just how badly the Republican party doesn’t know how to deal with “real” issues such as staying in one’s house and putting food on the table.
The GOP has forgotten how to deal with these things because they have spent the last two decades wailing and gnashing their teeth over the possibility of two guys having marital relations and whether some 17 year old chick named Bristol might have an abortion.
Obama is not a Muslim (if that matters to you), he is not a raging Liberal (much like Clinton wasn’t), and he is not out to rape your white daughter or destroy your country...or burn your Bible.
He is merely a man running for President. Like him or not, he is not the devil; he’s not a terrorist and Sarah “Robot Bitch” Palin and John "McMake Things Up" McCain, Obama is just doing the same thing you are doing.
He’s trying to run for President.
The only difference is, that while you are calling him what he is not, he is trying NOT to say what you two are.
Cheers!!
P.S. Hey McCain, Palin, and surrogates, if you have any balls, tell Obama to his face that he's a black, Muslim, terrorist. I didn't think so...Pussies...

I have to admit I didn't think we could lose WHOEVER won this race but today my mind was changed. I lost ALL respect for McCain today when he didn't stop and address his "peeps" when they started to shout out "Kill Him" at his town-rally-meeting today. He is now a true hater and war-monger in my book.. as well as an asshole. Fk McCain...I hope Obama wins big! I fear for his safety though.
Cheesy: It's all about the "kill 'em, Bill Ayres, he's not a Christian voting bloc". At least with your most dire scenario, Joe Biden can run this country unlike Palin.
I told you I was submitting a write in candidate, right?
not quite sure you can blame what is wrong with the GOP of the evangelical right.
I know dozens of pentalcostal democrats.
In California the fastest growing voting block are the deep faith strict Catholics who are registered democrats but always vote against social issues such as same sex marriage and abortion. It is not the evangelical republicans.
It could similar in other states...arizona? texas? new mexico?
He certainly is keeping his cool [Obama]with all the shit that is being thrown at him. Now with all the talk that the media is showing [kill him etc.] the threat is creeping into his family. Tell me Michell isn't scared shitless hearing the rage and threats towards her husband. Scary stuff!
I'm going to say what we're all not saying............ thousands of assholes in this country thinking and hoping that someone takes him out.
So Matt, as you are accusing McCain of spewing at Obama (which has in no way been one sided), you spew at McCain? Yes ... yes ... I realize it is satirical, but doesn't it just contribute to the problem?
*patiently awaits your 'Hell no' response*
Urgh, you got my head hurting Matt-man. I don't want to think about someone..., man I don't even want to say it.
I think you made a great, great point. Obama seems to be trying very hard to take the high road. It's gonna be tough....
Kat: The GOP until this crisis reared it's head has been talking about nothing except manaiacal Muslim and "cultural" issues. The Dems don't attempt talking to that crowd. That was the only thing the GOP has been focusing on, hence the Palin pick. Cheers!!
Songbird: I think you did. Write legibly. Cheers Dear!!
Micky: Amen brutha and yes, I am sure there are those out there who would like that. And how nmany are saying they will vote for him end up not because heis black. He hasn't won yet, and could still lose. Cheers Mick!!
Dana: What I am saying is that McCain is doing ONLY spewing garbage. Negative ads work. I am saying that McCain is showing by doing only this he has nothing to offer, to most Americans. He has not defined himself other than he was a POW and his sidekick is a Evangelical Hockey Mom who praises God and says you betcha.
My satirical attacks on McCain while often full of hyperbole, have been saying just that the enitre election. Cheers Dana!!
Lu: Say it...SAY IT!!! I wanna know what you're thinkin'. Cheers!!
Vodka: He has tried but I am glad to see that he is responding in kind to the attacks. Cheers VM!!
How much longer do we have?
The minute he let his crowds of supports start yelling "kill him" without rebuke is the minute I decided that this country is fucked in the ass far worse than I thought it was and I am a cynical bitch who loathes the FUCK out of nationalism.
Ya know what else I think? I think America NEEDS this economic meltdown. I am sick and fucking tired of being surrounded by brainless assholes who don't understand that their companies don't owe them a job because they are such nice people and they have kids, and we go to church, blah blah blah. STFU and actually work for 8 hours.
The rampant disgusting damn near pornographic consumerism of this country the last 20+ years is pathetic. He who dies with the most toys bankrupts his grandchildren.
Ok I feel better. Got cut off on the freeway by some limp dicked viagra swilling McCain voting fucktard in a Hummer. I should have sympathy though. It's likely the only hummer he will ever get.
RLL: Just a little over three weeks...dear God, make it come now. Why do I always want to say that when I respond to you? Cheers, Hot Stuff!!
Starr: Ha. I love your rants. You know what is telling about our great country's descent?
Iceland, who was fat and sassy a couple of weeks ago, has gone belly up. Who did they turn to salvage their economy? Frickin' Russia. WTF?
America is the new Rome, and baby, it's burning. Cheers Starr!!
Between you and Starrlight, I think all of my feelings in this election have been summed up nicely.
Metal: While I'm glad we could help, I am sorry that things are the way they are. Cheers, C!!
Well they certainly couldn't go to the UK after Gordo froze their assets ;O
Starr: In an aside...Before we all succumb to the global financial crisis, may I have a picture of you naked?
Rome may be burning but much like Nero, I am really shallow. Cheers!!
Certainly but you know I am an Aqua Tot and therefore it must be creative. I am thinking a reinterpretation of the Garden of Eden substituting slices of SPAM for fig leaves.
Hate and fear, that's all they have left.
Well, and "He's a Socialist."
But that argument has kind of been shot down by the last 8 years of unprecedented government expansion, exploding deficits and nationalization of banks and insurance companies.
....M2, you still have not announced your running mate...and the bait is getting stale on our collective breaths....
Starr: Oh My God. You know exactly which buttons to push with me, dontcha? Cheers!!
Jay: Yeah, the "socialist" tag is a new one that they're playing. And what you have said, highlights my point.
While all of this greed, corruption, and government expansion is going on, as long as Adam and Steve don't adulterate the Garden of Eden, things are swell with GOP. Cheers, Jay!!
I have to agree with kat on the point that it's not just the GOP fundamentalists--there are plenty of Dems here that will vote for McCain.
They are prety damn desperate.
"The only difference is, that while you are calling him what he is not, he is trying NOT to say what you two are."
I love that paragraph. And whether you intended it or not that sentiment gives me one more reason to vote for Obama.
I do think he has the balls, he just doesn't feel the need to roll around in the holy muddy waters with the likes of Johnnie or Sarah.
TB: The difference is that the Dem party doesn't play to that crowd.
I think by doing just that, the GOP has boxed themselves into a corner. When things are going well, "character" issues work. Well, things aren't going so well, and for them, they ain't workin'. Cheers!!
Dianne: Thanks, I liked it as well. And, I think it applies. I understand negative ads, but man, they are pulling at threads and it's almost cartoonish. Cheers, Di!!
If I vote for the McPain team will I get to go on the next exclusive spa retreat witht he AIG guys?
Phfrankie: Oh shit, I missed ya. I'll get back with ya on that. My VP may be Tyra Banks...Saves time trying to pick up on interns. Cheers!!
VE: You are such a funny and loyal reader that for you, should you vote for ME, I will invade Thailand and bestow unto you, any Bangkok hooker that you'd like. I take care of my friends. Cheers!!
Letting your crowd suggest that you kill your opponent: That's a Maverick? I'm so disappointed in people.
Knight: Yeah, it is as you said, disappointing. And sad. And so telling about the darkest parts of our society.
I never think that they can any longer, but people never fail to prove that they are bigger assholes than they are currently. Cheers Knight!!
It would be real easy to send Senator Biden out to ask about Governor Palin's affiliation and her husband's membership in the AIP...but so far they have not gotten into the mudpit with their rivals...
Seriously, I wish the media would begin asking about why she has gone to their conventions and sent a video message this year.
Bill Ayers did what he did 40 years ago...the AIP still wants to secede from the USA because they hate the USA!
Read THIS to learn more about this group.
Sometimes I can’t tell when you all think you are being funny…and when you have jumped on some sort of incomplete misinterpreted soundbite to express outrage in support of your chosen candidate.
A couple points on the “kill him” comments.
First - NOT directed at Obama. Directed at a piece of shit white boy who set bombs which actually killed people…He is on tape as saying he should have killed more…and is on tape with big smiles saying that he is guilty as hell and free as a bird. Personally I think if you set bombs with the intent to kill people (including children) you should abso-fucking-lutely be put to death.
Second - the words “kill him” were not heard by the contingent of Secret Service Agents at the rally. Any threat to the life of a Presidential candidate lands your ass in federal jail. If that many Secret Service agents didn’t hear the guy…chances could be McCain didn’t either.
Third - apparently it was one guy. Not a crowd. Not a chant. Picked up by one or more of the hundreds of media and independent recordings AFTER the fact. You can be damn sure if network employees heard the guy in real time it would be a much much bigger deal. And the guy would be facing federal charges.
Bond: I know what you are saying and I agree with you. Holy Crap!! I'm not giving you any shit? What's up with that? Smooch Vinny!!
Kat: I have plenty to say about your comment, but damn, I need to think about this. My first reaction is to attack you and your argument, but I will relax first. Cheers!!
Kat: I have lost more than one friend this week so what the hell is another one?
I have been, hopefully in a funny way, talking about McCain, but the guy is living up to my posts. He's a jerk.
I'm not talking about the "kill him" comments. I'm talking about the Bill Ayres remarks. If one wants to get down on character, bring it on.
John McCain is a selfish, bitter, erratic, divorce my first wife because she got fat, bastard.
I have been more than kind to this asshole. He's a jerk, and Palin is a gimmick.
Fuck them both.
Obama is no Second of Coming Jeebus, but I wanna see him do his thing and if he fails...so be it.
Cheers!!
I'm just disgusted with the whole process... but Obama does seem to be trying to address the issues, if rather vaguely.
Sigh. Look, it can be massaged to seem like it was Ayers all the right wants. But the calls of Terrorist and Treason have been bellowed about Obama for MONTHS.
I respect your right to hold opinions contrary to mine but I am afraid it is an insult to my intelligence to expect me to believe that the right has not and will not continue to play up racist and anti Muslim fear tactics.
Oh and for the record, I don't like Obama either. But I am fucking tired of being governed by people who kiss ass to evangelical christians. I don't believe in their god and if that is in fact what god ends up being I'd rather be in hell.
Starr: That's a great comment but the bottom line is, "You're going to Hell." Cheers Hot Stuff!!
Whoo hoo! S'more anyone?
Hmmm… if I only had friends who were in lockstep with my political beliefs it would be a lonely world. It rather sucks that you have lost more than one this week…and while ours is the virtual type…I would be sorry if our friendship ended over a difference in opinion on a political issue. Especially over the likes of Bill Ayers who should be rotting in a prison with Bubba as his life mate…and cell mate.
My first comment was to you…my second comment was to others who made comments on this post.
McCain is neither the first nor the last “jerk” to run for POTUS….or to be elected to that office. Never said that I was voting for him either.
as for his first divorce…the percentage of POWs from the Vietnam War who got divorced is astronomic. His first wife may have had serious issues and he may have abandoned her….but it is the one thing I have heard his say he regrets. You may not be very fond of me if you knew all the elements surrounding my divorce….
Evangelical right? when you compare the congregation and pastor of McCain…and the congregation and pastor of Obama….I think the later is far more evangelical christian. FAR more. Palin annoys me…but while just about NONE of your readers feel affinity for her…she represents a fairly substantial demographic. Gimmick or not.
So…as to keep the peace…and maybe the friendship…as to political matters in Bagwine…(in the words of the great Yoda)
My own counsel I shall keep…
(unless of course you want to discuss voter registration in ohio….j/k)
Kat: First of all, I kno wwith whom you were directin gthe comments. Secondly, I was in no way making ANY reference towards whatever congregation Mac-Man goes to, if any.
Tertiarily, if you are implying any lockstep bewtween Starr and I, I will gladly forward emails from her to me that call me "full of shit".
As for McCain...There are no excuses, Vietnam or otherwise, for his cheating on his wife...just like there are no excuses for Obama "hanging out" on a charitable board with Ayres. Right? Cheers!!
You know when I say you are full of shit I mean it with love ;)
you guys all need to just calm down....
my issues are...
come on matt..."robot bitch"?
you need to be nice...
and knowing my first ex wife...i'd leave her for 100 million dollar bride too.....
and although we come from the same country...i truly beleive that we also live in micro-climates of attitude, culture and information (do they have cable in ohio?)
and....Katherine....I'll still like you reguardless of your political beliefs are...even when you're wrong..
and finally....I'M VOTING FOR MATT-MAN...........by the way..who's your running mate?
ps...star...i love your rant about our consumptionism (is that a word?)...and in California everyone bankrolled their addiction with home equity...which is now gone...
I know you didn't bring up any congregation....I did....in reference to the evangelical gig.
I was NOT implying you were in lockstep with anyone...I was saying that I am not (ME personally) in lockstep with very many people I know and love. But they are still my friends...even if we are diametrically opposed on political issues)
No offense to Star...but I really didn't have Star or anyone else in mind...nor do I want to see the emails...
there are no excuses for cheating...for him...or Clinton...or Reagan...or any of us. If you are married and want to fuck someone other than your spouse...you ought to have the backbone to tell them first.
cheers....sigh
I am perfectly calm Teamster...sadly resigned and calm.
how about your second ex wife...?
Well, as you know I not only support Obama, but I like him and his Harvard-educated socialists ideas.
But frankly, I'm kind of more interested in the moment in Katherine's comments. What's all that about? Is lockstep a code word? What have I missed?
That is so kind of you matt-man! ha ha. I have actually been to Bangkok! But seeing how you are both slightly smarter AND way more prolific than I am (both not easy to achieve) you'll get my vote anyway! At least your party would be just that...a party!!!
Wait? Not one satirical comment toward me...MARK DOWN THE DATE!
It does not matter to me if Senator McCain left his first wife or not...it happens...that is not important in this race.
As I have said before it is the hate-baiting that is being used that disgusts me.
The calls of "terrorist" have gone on long before the Ayers relationship was put in the forefront.
The McCain camp is not including Senator Obama's full name, using his middle name of Hussein, when speaking of him and there is only one reason for that. To infuriate those who will connect him to the tyrant Saddam Hussein...no other reason...to ignite the fires of hatred toward anything or anyone Muslim...
Bill Ayers did despicable things back in the 60's...absolutely. He did turn himself in in 1980 and apologized to those injured in the bombings, including Richard Elroy.
He has made numerous statements condemning what he and the weathermen did and has since worked for better education for the children of Chicago.
The group he and Senator Obama worked together on, despite what Governor Palin wants us to believe, was not some far-left radical organization. In fact it was the Chicago Annenberg Challenge Project.
Walter Annenberg was a staunch Republican and his widow, Leonore, supports Senator McCain's election as President.
I still say the relationship with Senator Obama and Mr. Ayers is, to me, not as solid or as dangerous as Governor Palin and her husband's relationship with the AIP, a group which hates the USA and wants the state of Alaska to secede from the union.
I also think it is wonderful that we can discuss and debate these issues without the name calling and bitterness, which I have witnessed on other sites around the bloggosphere.
The sentence The McCain camp is not including Senator Obama's full name, should have read:
The McCain camp is now including Senator Obama's full name,
Starr: I was more aroused when I thought you meant it. ; ) Cheers Starr!!
Teamster: I certainly agree with you that we live in different cultures, but I could never marry for money. It could result in marrying Starr Jones or Oprah. And no, there is no cable in Ohio, only re-runs of Hee Haw. Cheers!!
Kat: Well we agree on that, that's for sure. If one wants to fuck someone other than their spouse or significan tother they should have the decency to say, "Hey, Hold Dinner. I've got some leg spreadin' to do." Cheers!!
Fantasy: Did you miss the class that we held on Code Word 101? Cheers Meg!!
VE: Ha. That, coming form you, is a true compliment. Enjoy your Thai Treat. Cheers!!
Bond: Yes indeed, this entire "terrorist" connection revolves around an educational board set-up by a conservative, of all people.
I do disagree with one thing, I enjoy name calling. It's kinda fun. Cheers!!
I'm betting part of Kat's comment came from mine and I feel I should mention that I'm being outrageous here because I can. I don't do it on my blog. I don't do it in my normal political discussions. Matt-Man gives us a venting place. I'm still dissapointed in people and I think stirring up terror in people as part of your campaign is horrible.
Knight: When all is lost, go with fear. I hope you continue to come here and vent often. Cheers Knight!!
I have thought, and considered, and asked questions, and thought some more. And here is the only thing I can add to this discussion.
There is no excuse for inciting fear and hatred with the calculated use of distortions and sound bites.
It's just that simple to me.
Travis: I agree in toto. Negative ads are fine but damn, there should be some kernel of truth. Cheers Trav!!
