Why

I have a couple of things on my mind.

First…I was dissed by a long time friend. I was deleted from her life. NO, not physically, but emotionally.

It’s kinda weird because I usually wouldn't give a rat’s ass, but we had been friends for years, and her casting me aside because “it doesn’t look good” sucks. I know…I am using great English today….Fuck it.

It’s absolute bullshit. If this chick has to “hide” me from her man, that is just silly. On her part and on his. We were friends. For a long damn time.

Does anyone get that? I have lots of friends that I used to go out with. Does Schmoop care? And Schmoop? Hell, she's hosed the entire city. Do I care? NO, she knows I love her.

When do people stop being 14 year olds? Oh, I know…they don’t!!

Holy Cow!!

Anyhoo…My brother Vince, found a copy of my dad’s first book. And from this book, Irish Coffee, I give you a poem titled, “Why”.

Why

Why do you seek to destroy
all that I build
knowing full well
that time alone would serve instead.
and once the pillars rot
and the castles fall,
you would not be burdened
with a sense of guilt?

Why do you taunt me
with practical things
nor realize that all dreams
must someday be shattered,
and falling to earth
awake each man
with the thunder of mediocrity?

Could it be that deep inside
you cannot watch me suffer
the pain of one
who strives for stars
and struggles,
day by sad day,
up a ladder without rungs?

Jack Mahoney ©1974

Yeah…my dad had a way with words, and he passed it on. I just hope I don’t let him down.

Working 11-4 so wish me a good day. We’re having some snow, Bitches!!

Cheers!!

That's a disappointment about your "friend".

I see where you get your talents. That's pretty cool that you have a book he wrote, what a special keepsake to have.

Lady: Ya know..more than making me mad...It "ticks" me off. As for Dad?

The man had two books and a play published. He had mad skillz. And he'd kill me for using those words. Cheers D!!

I googled your dad's book to see if it's available around here (I'm going to have my library get it for me, I'd like to check it out), and there is a signed copy for sale on Amazon. I don't know if you have extra copies, but I thought you may want to know if not.

Matt! Hell dude... I never let my friends know I know you..It would completely ruin job as a piano player in a whorehouse. My reputation would be shot and I would most likely lose my piano gig.

I did love the poem, it was deep and beautiful. And you know that you will never let him down.

As for the friend….what can you do? I deal with it myself quite a bit, we have that in common. I guess when you’re really, really, really, ridiculously good looking, charming, flirtatious and hilarious, jealously will come into play. It is a very juvenile emotion but one that the unenlightened masses embrace with abandon. It’s just something we have to deal with….

Clay: Ha. Very well said. And you're right. Some people do need drama to exist. Sad. I just vent and move on. Cheers Clay!!

Lady: You googled my dad? That's sick!! Seriously...Wow...We have no extra copies of Irish Coffee, we have a few of Credo left but this one is rare. Thanks for the info D. Cheers!!

Mike: Ha. Brevity like that makes me laugh...alot. Cheers Mike!!

Al: Ha. No worries Al. I won't mention that you know me and I won't let anyone know about the time we spent together in Bangkok with the three hookers and a half a pound of heroin.

Scott: Ha...Oh yeah, I'm a threat to women everywhere, maybe you are but I have to beg to have sex with Schmoop

Okay not beg...I just have to ply her with alcohol. But you know?

That type of feeling is quite the unenlightened emotion. I've never understood it. Cheers Scott!!

Hubs and I may bring up an ex or freind of the opposite sex in conversation and why should either of us get our panties in a bunch. Show me someone without a past and I'll show you a newborn. Anyone ex or friend has helped shape us into who we are and therefore are part of us and should not have to be denied.

You Father's poem paints quite the visual for me. I liked it, thanks.

Lu: I think you summed everything up quite well. Much better than I. Thanks Lu. And thanks...I think my dad was pretty damn good. Of course, I'm biased. Cheers Lu!!

Happy Birthday a day early.

Un-friending (gawd, my English teacher mother-in-law would cringe) you was a little juvenile. We are who we are because of our friends and family. Not very genuine of her.

Schmoop: you are not a drunken whore. You are making Matt work for it and that is how it should be.

Well said LuLu...

I like the poem, your dad sure did dig deep didn't he?

Schmoop go easy on him....he might decide to cook liver again.

Schmoop said...

Michele: And the thing is, it wasn't a Facebook "un-friending" it was a real unfriending. Oy. Ha...I'm sure Schmoop appreciates your support. Cheers Michele!!

Micky: Lu nailed it, dint she? This book is better than the one you read. I haven't even scratched the surface on this one. And no worries...no liver. Cheers Mick!!

In real life! Now, that is just wrong.

Schmoop said...

Phfrankie: You've seen pictures of me...You've heard me speak on here. What the hell is there to be jealous of? See? Cheers P-Man, and there's more poetry to come.

Michele: I know...If I didn't like people so much, I would just say, "To hell with the lot of them." Cheers Michele!!

Thanks for sharing the poem.

As for the friend - I've lost friends who have always been platonic when they pair up with a new partner who may be jealous of the friendship or may just not like my sense of humor. I would think we could have dinner together once in a while but they just withdraw. I don't get it but, hey, different strokes for different folks. If they don't value my friendship enough, I guess they don't deserve it.

Schmoop said...

David: Yeah...but I still don't get how damn threatened that some people feel. Drives me nuts. Cheers David, I'm off to work!!

...THREE Votes for Lu'.
Fuck Yeah!
The Jealous are nothing but the INSECURE. Rise above it, I say. Trust in your love. Jealousy only undermines love, and you, THE JEALOUS,(in the end) will end up the LOSER.

2nd shout out to David!

Bobby: Why thank ya, Michelle. We have two Michelles here now. One L Michele and Two L Michelle. I like that. Cheers Michelle!!

Dianne: I'm already over it. I just quickly vent and move on. But, it is a little bit of a bummer. Cheers Di!!

Dice: Yes they are and well put. You and Lu are fricking smart today. Cheers Dice!!
