Pigskin And Pizza Burgers

Happy Saturday to you all from lovely Bagwine, Ohio. Big college football game taking place today. The annual Ohio State/Michigan game kicks off at Noon EST. The Buckeyes of OSU will be trading blows on the gridiron with the Wolverines of Michigan, and you know who this lifelong resident of Ohio will be rooting for…NEITHER!!

I hate both teams more than I hate the taste of brussel sprouts, the sound of Ashlee Simpson’s voice, or the paralysis brought on by a burgeoning case of beriberi. Asking me to choose sides in this game is like making me choose bewteen eating at the all night beaver buffet located between the legs of Paris Hilton or Britney Spears…Either way, I end up feeling sick, guilty, and of course my tongue falls off and I go blind.

So, I will not be cheering either side on to victory, but if you are going to be cheering along and watching this game or any other of today’s contests, may I suggest eating a Bagwine Pizza Burger while doing so. They are Dee-Lish, and here’s how they are made…

I use Parmesan Cheese, Basil, Oregano, Garlic Powder, Salt, Onion. I would have used real chopped onion but oddly enough I didn’t have one on hand. I think I used the last onion to rub against my neck after I drained my goiter, but dry onion is fine…

I then mix all of those ingredients into a pound and a half or so of ground beef. If you’d rather, you can use ground chuck, sirloin, or whatever the fuck kinda beef is cheap and hasn’t yet turned brown and bloody in your grocery’s meat case.

Form the meat into hamburger patties and get ready to fry them up. (Note: If you are Dick Cheney, the process is now complete and you can begin to eat them as they are.)

Sizzle, sizzle, pop, pop…As they cook, I like to chug another glass or two of Wild Irish Rose and drop some acid, but that step is optional.

While the pizza burgers cook, take hamburger buns and spread them with butter, garlic, and pizza sauce, and brown them up in the oven. Mama Mia, my wee wee is squirming with anticipatory glee.

Prior to the cooking process ending, top the burgers with mozzarella cheese, and a few pepperoni slices. Yum-OH!!

Ahhhhhh Mangia!!

These burgers came out very well. I should have used a bit more oregano, so if you make these, go heavy on that. Next time, I may put the sauce and cheese directly in the burgers. Overall, I would give these delights a B+…

Enjoy your Saturday, enjoy the games, and if you’re up for it, get into the kitchen and enjoy my meat!!

Cheers!!

Hmmm I'm still not sure why you hate both teams...could you be a bit more clearer? ;-)

And even tho it's early hear, I'd love one of the burgers for breakfast...they sound wonderful!

I would love to eat your meat! I'm drooling at the thought!

Odat: I dont like Michigan because they are a rival of my beloved Notre Dame and I dont like Ohio State because when I was a kid I had nightmares about being molested by Woody Hayes. Cheers!!

Metalmom: While it is rare that a woman wants to eat my meat, I will make sure to leave you with a job well done. Cheers!!

A man who knows what oregano is...I'm impressed.

Jay: Thanks Dude...I root for the cheerleaders too, or more specifically, I root that they have a simultaneous and spontaneous wardrobe malfunction. Cheers!!

Quite the Chef Boy O'Mateo you are!

(O'Mateo....laughing...)

I would probably use fresh spices and onion....its probably easier to get here than there...(butter and pizza sauce on the buns?)

You have me drooling....

Kat: I even wash the dishes when I'm done. Yeah, fresh spices and herbs aren't a big commodity 'round here, but glad to see you could still work up a moist oral discharge over this post. Cheers!!

Now those look tasty. I hope you won't mind a slight alteration of the recipe - if we make those we'll have cold beer instead of WIR.

Otherwise, yum-OH!

And GO IRISH!

Schmoop said...

Travis: By all means, substitute beer for Bagwine. And yes, I am thrilled as hell that ND beat Duke...Things couldn't have been much worse than good Catholic boys losing to a bunch of Blue Devils. Cheers my good man!!

Ohio State played well.

Those burgers look like a serious heart attack waiting to happen.

That Bagwine Pizza Burger sounds great! Unfortunately, the games are all over, as is my dinner. However, I shall check the cupboard for the makings and, if I have them all, give it a try for Sunday lunch.

I noticed a tub of butter in one of the photos. Since you don't need that much of it for cooking I'm assuming we're to use the remainder to grease up the cheerleaders?

Oh maybe I shouldn't use grease and ASSuming in the same sentence.

I am SOOOO making these for tailgate!! I'll fiddle with it but it's a great idea. I think I'll do them in a 'slider' size. You know what that is don't you Matty?

and katherine--sugar--Matty obviously shops at Kroger--and they carry fresh herbs year round here --maybe not in Bagwine though ;-)

I hate football but the burgers are pretty damn sexy!

Schmoop said...

Oswegan: We all have to go someway, why not go out with a tasty, greasy, burger. Cheers!!

Nick: Thanks for stopping and let me know how they come out if you have them.

Jeff: Butter on Cheerleaders? Olive Oil has a much higher burn temperature. Cheers!!

TB: Fresh herbs would go to waste here...I mean, since typically I am making SPAM or Grilled Cheese when would I use them? And yes, I do love me some sliders. Cheers!!

Cathy: Maybe I'll change the name to "Sexy Burgers"!! Cheers and I hope all is well.

Being a Bengals fan, I can understand your advocacy of equally-perpetual losers, Notre Dame. ;)

Your traitorous ways notwithstanding, I really want to sample some of your meat.

Schmoop said...

Allie: And the Bengals showed their "roar" again yesterday. My meat will always be ready for you my dear. Cheers!!
