Shake Down The Thunder

I was very bummed about my buddy Mark passing away, and then lo, and behold what happens? I received a package in the mail...

It is from Dana...And she sent me a card!! Does the card imply that I am cute, or devilish, or that I should wear adult diapers.? I won't share what she wrote, because...well...it wasn't pornographic.

Oh My!! Be still my heart. She knows that in spite of their recent lackluster seasons on the gridiron, I LOVE the Notre Dame Fighting Irish!! Wow...THE 2008 Student/Alumni ND Football shirt. This is the front...

This is the most coolest back of it...

Don't you think that my shamrock strewn, Mr. Happy Pants would complete the ensemble? Of course you do.

It looks good on me, no?

But wait just a minute...Let's add my ND beads, a shamrock to my face, and some Wild IRISH Rose!!

And now with all of that, I add Mr. Happy Pants...

I am a sucker for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish when it comes to football. I get so mad watching the games sometimes that I cuss at the TV. Yes, I know that isn't rational, but I do.

I want to thank Dana, for sending this shirt. She stumbled across my site about ten months ago, and I am so glad that she did.

Rarely is there a day that goes by that she doesn't make me smile. Thanks for both the shirt and the smile Sweetheart.

And now, win or lose this year, when I am watching Notre Dame play, I can delight in the fact that I am watching it with my best buddy Schmoop while wearing a shirt given to me by another great buddy, Dana.

Life doesn't get any better than that...Thanks Dana, you're simply the best!!

Cheers!!

Matt-Man I go away from the internet for a week and I come back to you breaking my heart. I'm not sure we can ever be together now because I've taken a life-long vow to hate Notre Dame with ever fiber of my being. I'm not even sure what else to say...except Go Dawgs!

OMG. I think I love you more now than ever before.

Scratch that.

I think I'll take a dagger to your heart and TAKE THAT SHIRT FROM YOU!!!!!

Schmoop said...

Lady Jaye: Don't hate me...It's not like ND ever plays U of G anyway. Can't be friends? Cheers LJ!!

Songbird: Is the back of the shirt sweet lookin' or what? I am a lucky guy. Cheers!!

Mike: Sorry. I know I am an Ohioan, but I hate the Bucks. If it helps, I hate the damn Wolverines just as much. Cheers!!

Dana said...

Awwww ... if I didn't know better I'd think you like me almost as much as the shirt *wink*

Jay said...

Because I can see how happy you are, I'm not going to ruin this moment for you by taking a shot at the Irish.

Next week, maybe. But, not this week. ;-)

Schmoop said...

Dana: Puleeeze. Damn the shirt, if you were wearing it, I would rip it right off of ya.

But seriously, I love it, and thanks so much Dana. You really are a sweet woman!! Cheers my friend!!

Schmoop said...

Jay: Fuck It. Shoot away. They will be lucky to go 6 and 6. I don't care, I like em, and now I can rub myself and think of Dana while I do it. Not that I haven't already. Cheers, Jay!!

Sweet is right! They will rise again, no matter their record. ND Football RULEZ, BAY-BEEEEEEE!!!

Schmoop said...

Songbird: I hope you're right. This year I will settle for a decent record and a win in any bowl no matter which one. Cheers!!

EG: I didn't know you lived that close to the campus. Can you sneak over and dig up a piece of the field for me? And yeah, Charlie better get his act together. Cheers EG!!

I am sad that our teams won't meet this year.. well unless by some miracle of the football gawds your team makes it to the bowl games...

GOOOOOOO DUCKS!!

Cheesy: Save a Duck, Eat a Beaver!! I actually like Oregon...Maybe it's because I despise USC so damn much. Cheers!!

Winter: Ha. You are so damn hip. And yes, it was quite nice of her. Cheers Winter!!

You great in that get-up. I also love that Dana addressed the package to Matt-Man. Your mailman must think you are great.

Schmoop said...

Karen: Thanks and yeah, I was quite amused that she addressed it to Matt-Man. As for the mailman?

Never engage him in a conversation, he's a nice guy, but he will go on forever. Cheers Karen!!

Be sure to wear your pants around your knees so you too can be cool and everyone can see your new boxers...

Schmoop said...

VE: Pants? Silly man, I don't wear pants on Saturdays. Mr. Happy Pants does the covering of my boys all by himself. Cheers!!

Liz Hill said...

Oh my it's gonna be a looooooong season!

Schmoop said...

TB: It could very well be. On the upside, it can't get much worse than last year, or the Bob Davie and Gerry Faust years. Cheers TB!!

Ahh for the good old days of chicken soup 4th quarters in the Cotton Bowl!

My highschool were the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame, UGA and the Crimson Tide are about the only college ball I watch.

Well balls on a field that is ;)

Schmoop said...

Starr: Ahhhhhh. The 1978 Cotton Bowl where Joe Montana made a name for himself against the Houston Cougars.

One of his Offensive Tackles was a Bagwine resident, All-American Tim Foley. The 'Tide and Notre Dame played a helluva Sugar Bowl in '73. Notre Dame won 13-11 and won the Nat'l Championship. Cheers Starr!!

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

Wait.... ND still has a football team?

I didn't realize that

Schmoop said...

Bond: Yes, their team still has a pulse...a pulse slightly stronger than your attempts at humor. Cheers Vinny!!

Dianne said...

You should send a pic of you in your shirt to Regis Philbin. He'd probably adopt you and you could live in the style you've never become accustomed to.

I love me some Irish - oh and yeah - ND too!

Dana is a sweetie.

Schmoop said...

Dianne: Ah yes, Regis. Class of '58. And you love the Irish, eh?

Matthew Patrick Mahoney, it doesn't get much more Irish than that. I am going to Heaven on my name alone. Cheers Di!!

Beth said...

That name will be the only thing that's gets you in!! Loves!!

Schmoop said...

Schmoop: Quel est votre plaisir, Miss Snake in the Grass. By the way, I have been doing tongue strengthening exercises all damn day. ; )~ Cheers Schmoop!!

Matt-Man, you're such a good Catholic!
To be honest, I told my oldest son he will be going to college at N.D. PERIOD!!!

The only place worth going to in Indiana is SOUTH BEND!!!

GO FIGHT, WIN!!!

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

Your attempt at humor flew past me like a mosquito heading to Rosie O'Donnell after she had finished a full Apple Pie and is sitting out in the sun....

Ken said...

I love that line.... Wake up the echoes!

I remember as a kid, Notre Dame used to mean good football, used to mean good football, used to mean good football.

Cute card! It depends on the day which one you are. I like that tshirt. The pictuer on the back is great. I like the Joe Boxer's even better! Especially on those legs! :)

Well I don't get the whole sports thing, but the shorts look great on you.
