When Obvious Thoughts, and Obvious People Go Awry

An open letter from Schmoop:

Someone on Sunday’s post, who shall be nameless, in the comments, implied that my boy was lazy and needed to get a job rather than bitch about his PENDING unemployment.

Let me tell ya…

My boy, The Matt-Man is anything but that …and I love him more than anything in the world.

What you need to know, is that he does look for work…every fucking day.

There is no work here in our burg.

I took off today because I didn’t want to go out in the fucking blowing snow.

Yeah…I’m a pussy. So?? I’ll make it up.

My brother is fucked as well. I love both of them so much…sorry.

I personally gave up on God today.

I used to pray every day for both of them, and I get nowhere.

No fucking where. I’m done with the praying thing.

But…

I know Matt-Man would never give up, but sometimes…Why?

Obviously God is not listening.

He made me dinner, ‘cause he loves me; Matt made me dinner that is, not God…anyhoo…

In our house there is love, and hope…And, the hope is all Matt‘s, and I wish I had the hope he has.

Do you all believe?

I really need to have a little hope.

Even if you don’t believe in God, do you believe in anything? And if you do, pray for my brother and for Matt-Man.

As Matt-Man would say…

Cheers!!

I remain astounded that the fine depressed and unfortunate citizens of Bagwine have abandoned the fine art of beer drinking and imbibing other sundry alcohol-containing beverages to drown their sorrows. Citizens seem to have their priorities very misplaced IMHO.

I assumed that beer and cigarettes would be the very last items lopped off their shopping lists and thus the Beer Mine would be relative immune to the economic woes of, oh lets say, a cupcake bakery.

David: I almost like your comment, but you seem to suggest that people in Bagwine are less cosmopolitan than your peers in the DC area...I know that we may be hayseeds, but we can live without the glad hand of big brother.

I hate to say it to you, 'cause I like ya, but c'mon. Cheers David!!

Trying to find a job in SW Ohio is like trying to find an honest politician in D.C. They just aren't there.

Jay: Ya know? I make fun of Bagwine, but that comment of David's is pissin' me off, because I always talk about (how stupid) yet how hard people work here, even our can collecting homeless folks. Cheers Jay!!

Please to be knowing that I meant no disrespect to the fine citizens of Bagwine - I was simply expressing my surprise that they seemed to be abandoning alcohol in their hour of most need. I thought that liquor establishments and bars were virtually recession proof.

As for being cosmopolitan, I typically buy the Frontera chardonnay in the 1.5 liter bottle for $5.99 for my home consumption. Very upscale.

If I were to bet on anyone in Bagwine finding another job it would be Matt-Man.

I’m not taking sides here at all but I feel that what was said was said with a kind heart and good intentions. I’m sure that there isn’t any work where you live, but when you put your personal life out on these internets you are going to get opinions. And we all know that he is the sweetest guy in the world.

And yea, I send you guys good vibes, which is my way of praying I guess, all the time.

More good luck to you!

David: 10-4 and Cheers!!

Mike: Thanks!! I appreciate that. Cheers Mike!!

Scott: I can't speak to the intentions, good or bad, of the commenter, but eh, my instinct and obviously Schmoop's is to find it not to be good. That said...

I appreciate your good vibes. Cheers Scott!!

Yes, I was stating the obvious. So what?
Did that hurt someones feelings? Sheesh.

I wish you guys all the best and I even spent a half hour on line checking jobs in Bagwine. Not the best way to find work, nothing's as good as walking in a door, shaking a hand and saying, Hi! I'm so and so and I "really" would like to work, do you have "anything" for me?

Just my opinion, Mery Christmas...
and good luck.

Schmoop said...

Mick: You just left me scratching my head; as for the hurt feelings, I'll let Schmoop respond to that when she can. Cheers !!

Damn, sometimes I write goodly;) And Mick, nobody's feelings were hurt, I just found your comment to be quite rude, just my opinion:)

Be careful guys. I was unemployed for over a year up until recently. There just isn't a lot of work out there and it's brutal and it makes you depressed and angry and sensitive. This is the worst time of year for it. Last year I wasn't able to get gifts for anyone and I felt like an asshole. It's a shitty situation but it will pass. I'm sending all my good luck and energy your way (and an actual package so watch for it) with hopes it will help make the interim bearable.

Schmoop said...

Knight: What the hell? You are too kind. Everything will work out at some point. Cheers Knight!!

I was going to make a really crude "I've got a package for Knight" comment, but decided it would be beneath the dignity of this blog.

So, I'll just make a semi-crude "I'd like a package from Knight. If you know what I mean" comment. ;-)

I suspect there is a God or there is no way in Hell Matt-Man would have a woman with a rockin ass like THAT! ;)

First let me say that I thought the comment was in poor taste, but that has more to do with whom it came from than it does the actual comment. I know the history. I've been on the receiving end of similar comments made by the same person. He is what he is.

*shrugs*

On to the God thing ...

I've heard the "Sometimes the unanswered prayers are the best" line, and the "God has a plan that is different than yours" line. I don't buy either of them. I pray when it makes me feel better to pray, and stop when I don't.

As far as hope? There has to be hope or there is nothing.

I'll add to Scott's vibes, it's my way of praying as well

You know I know how ya feel since I'm in a similar situation

love ya guys

Jay: Ha!! It's only Tuesday but I think your dignity reference will be the funniest thing I will hear all week. Cheers Jayman!!

Ame: Ha.Your suspicions would be wrong. And yeah...Schmoop's ass RAWKS!! Cheers and thanks for commenting (finally) Ame!!

Dana: I think his comment falls into the "I'm only telling you this for your own good" realm. And we all know well that goes over on others. ; )~ Cheers Dana!!

Di: I know dear, so why don't we just toss all of our problems aside for a few and have sweaty Bronx/Midwest/Catholic/Jewish/Atheistic Sex!! Yum!! Cheers Di!!

Dearheart, I'm so sorry about you being down! This just sucks. I'm sending good vibes to you and the lovely Schmoop, as well, and as soon as I'm out of bed, a wee package will be winging it's way towards Bagwine (got the Christmas Crud - complete with a river of snot, aches, pains, headache, cough, and fever - Oh, the Joy!). I'm not quite as timely as I'd hoped to be this year... but you know, the best laid plans o' mice an' men go aft aglay.

Schmoop said...

Rat: I appreciate it but you have done so much for us over the years. You are truly one of the most wonderful people in this world and of course, hotter than hell.

Anyhoo...thanks Rat, I love ya and so does Schmoop. And really, at some point, things will be okie-dokie. Cheers Dear!!

Mick: Let me take these one by one...

Anyone who truly knows me, knows that I was looking for a job on day one. What the fuck was that?

Secondly, I did love my job, because Me, Mike and Pizza Bill had other ideas going on and I adore them both. I must ask, what's up with bringing others and their love or not for their job? Hangin' out with Doggy again?

This is getting tiring so I will just say...

My son knows what I do and what I want to accomplish, and even at the tender age of 16, he knows that I may very well suffer slings and arrows for being labeled lazy, and seriously, he treats that in a much more mature fashion than you do...or my ex wife.

In fact, this entire rant by you, sounded like she typed it...Are you sure your name isn't Janet?

When you gonna write that book? Did you find a better writer than me? or Someone else? Have you found you flavor of the day? That's how YOU roll.

I am old man river, and keep chugging along for and with those whom I love and respect...My ideas might change but my love never wavers...nor my feelings for others or what I want to accomplish...

Most of the time.

Cheers!!

I'm sending all the good vibes I've got your way which is also about as close to a prayer as I can get.

I have been unemployed now for near on two years. With a short 8 week break of actual employment before being laid off again. I have been working part time since March but am unable to even get interviews anymore because I've been out so long. It is NOT easy out there at all.

All the best to you Matt-Man, believe me, I get it.

Schmoop said...

Chcick: I am all too familiar with your ups and downs employment wise, and I feel for ya. Unemployment can be another stigma attached to people when looking for a job. Ironic, and quite sad. Good luck to you and I both. Cheers Sexy!!

Hang in their gang. All will be well. Lots of strong vibes coming your way.

Schmoop said...

Andy: Thanks...That's exactly what I keep telling Schmoop. Cheers Anj!!
