Look at this…
It appears to be merely a box full of stuff. But really, it’s much more than that.
It’s actually a box full of thoughtfulness. A box full of kindness…indeed, a box full of love.
And? It was sent to Schmoop and I from the same general area where the serial shooting took place this past weekend.
While I know this all may sound full of hyperbole, this box sent from the Phoenix/Tucson area represents not simply the full on generosity directed at Schmoop and me…
It should serve as a reminder and symbol to all of us, that there is still more kindness in this world than crazy.
Certainly, the crazy and hate-filled jerks like Jared Loughner often grab the headlines by stealing the lives of others.
On TV, blowhards like Keith Olbermann and Glenn Beck distort an otherwise clear screen.
The likes of Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Alan Grayson make a mockery of the political lineage of Jefferson, Jackson, and Lincoln.
People of that ilk and the millions of others like them, are hateful, obnoxious, and in the extreme case…deadly.
Sometimes it seems as though that people like that are the norm in this world, but they are not. They’re just louder.
The vast majority of people in the world are good. They are the quiet kind that make up the vast majority of our planet.
And the quiet kind far outnumber the loud, hate-filled crazies that populate this world.
My buddy Desert Rat, the propagator of the aforementioned gift, is one of the many kind-hearted people in this world, and while there is only one Desert Rat, there are many others out there like her.
Ha…In fact, when Schmoop and I were unwrapping the contents (yes, she took the time to wrap some of the things), Schmoop said, “It’s like Christmas in January.”
Schmoop was right, but more so…If you know a person like Rat, and we all do, it’s Christmas every day of the year.
I know…as I stated earlier, this post is a bit of hyperbole, but the events in Arizona last weekend and the corresponding origins of the gift gave me a reason to pause and think.
Just keep in mind folks, as the lovely Desert Rat, has reminded me, so let her actions remind you as well…
The quiet kind of the world far outnumber the loud, the crazy, and the lethal.
And one other thing…In spite of the following picture:
Desert Rat is NOT retarded.
Thanks my friend and to you all…
Cheers!!
Happy Monday Bitches!!
Oy Vay…I worked eight hours on Sunday, and it WIPED ME OUT. Holy Cow.
I got home at 7 P.M. and was all but asleep on the couch by 8 P.M. Instead of trying to write a post for today, I actually did the mature thing and acquiesced to the demands of my health.
Oh hell yeah, it is killing me to not post everyday. I feel 100% better than I did a week ago, but am far from 100%.
I feel pretty damn good when just sitting around the digs, but even a five hour stint at the Beer Mine kicks my ass, let alone an eight hour shift.
I have a doctor’s appt. at 9:30 this morning and then I’m off to work until 4 P.M. So today, entertaining the masses is a no go.
Many of you have not read my last post involving the new Celebrity Fantasy Girlfriend ™ that I have picked out for Bagwine Buddy, Jay. So…
Scroll down directly and read about the most fine pick I have made in this matter if you’d like.
One last thing…
Saturday I received a very sweet get well card, from an incredibly sweet reader of this site.
In addition to the card, she felt that my recuperation (and Schmoop’s) would benefit from an uber-generous amount of Olive Garden gift card money.
She’s probably on the right track, as upon weighing myself this morning, the Matt-Man is down to 174 pounds. I think the last time I weighed 174 pounds I was 15 years old and fantasizing about having a hot, oily three way with the Landers’ sisters.
Anyhoo…While I have yet to thank her personally, I wanted to give an anonymous shout-out to this lovable goof’s kindness. Thanks Buddy, I was truly touched.
Enjoy your Monday all, and wish for me to have enough wind to get through another day at the Beer Mine.
Cheers!!
It’s another glorious Sabbath in Bagwine, Ohio…Today, Sunny and 79 degrees.
I haven’t been able to keep up with all you beautiful Bagwine Heads.
I do apologize, but…
My beer peddling schedule has been busier than the receptionist at Paris Hilton’s gynecologist’s office.
Today is no better. I work from 11-7 today; catering to the masses as they pick up a little libation on their way home from a stirring religious service.
I worked from 11 A.M.-9 P.M. yesterday, and in my post I had requested that people pity me and bring me food.
By the grace of Mary, Joseph, and the Holy Baby Jeebus, my prayers were answered.
Now dig it…
First up, Schmoop’s brother dropped off a handmade, fresh made cheeseburger. Plenty of cheese, pickles, and off-the-grill smokiness.
Secondly…an older couple came through to get their weekend usual, and asked what I was doing there on Saturday.
I told them I was filling in. I gave them their order and they said that they would be back on their way home.

Twenty minutes later, they came back through, not to order anything else but to drop something off.
They had gone to KFC to pick up their dinner, and stopped to drop off two drumsticks, a biscuit, and a little bowl of coleslaw for me.
They said that I looked hungry. I think it was more being perturbed by working Saturday, but whatever works.
Late in the evening, a guy I had never waited on before came through. He wanted a twelve pack of Pepsi.
There’s a Donatos Pizza place next door to our Drive-Thru, and I caught the distinct smell of anchovies emanating from his car.
I asked him upon giving him his order, “Mmmm, you have anchovies on that pizza, don’t you?” He replied, “Ha, yes I do.” “I love em’”, I said.
When I came back with his change, he handed me a napkin with three big pieces of pepperoni and anchovy pizza on top , and said, “We anchovy lovers have to stick together.”
I thanked him, and devoured the hairy fish laden pie. Yum-Oh!!
Today’s lesson comes from the Book of Menus…a little known Holy
book that I talked about this past Lent. Click HERE, if you missed it.
The quote from Jeebus goes like this, “Feed the hungry, clothe the nekkid, and make sure Matt-Man gets his share of pie.”
Due to the kindness of friends and strangers yesterday, that Messianic directive was followed.
People, for the most part, are quite a lovely lot.
Enjoy the football today. I’ll be out there stimulating the economy. And with any luck, when I get off tonight, I’ll be stimulating Schmoop.
Cheers!!
