Random Acts of Kindness

I came out of the shower just before going to work Thursday evening when Schmoop handed me a letter she had just gotten out of the mailbox.

It was from the Kroger Co., which if you don’t know, is a large grocery store chain.

I opened the letter, and inside was a 25 dollar gift card to the aforementioned Kroger’s. I said to Schmoop, “Wow, that’s nice!!”

Now…

In addition to my family, many of you chuckleheads have never failed to astound me with your generosity and thoughtfulness directed toward Schmoop and me over the past 4 plus years.

The likes of Lu, Dana, and Rat quickly come to mind, but this act of kindness was a bit different.

The card was sent anonymously and postmarked from an area of the country that offers me no clue as to who sent it.

I have no idea why it was sent either. Perhaps whoever sent it heard that my hours at The Beer Mine are getting cut a bit. Perhaps he or she was just being kind…perhaps both.

No matter, I am not one to look a gift card in the mouth. But…

I do want to thank the purveyor of this act of kindness and hope that your kindness is returned to you ten-fold. Thanks!!

And now…Another blatant, self-serving, promo for, I’m with Stupid!!

Please join Jay and me tonight at 11 PM EDT on Blog Talk Radio as we celebrate Halloween on I’m with Stupid.

Hilarity will ensue as we talk about all things Halloween related. From funny costumes, our favorite scary movies, madcap movie trailers, to Nipsey Russell’s take on football and Halloween!!

Help us welcome in the Halloween weekend by listening and calling in with your BOO-ty of wit and wisdom.

That’s, I’m With Stupid…Friday at 11 PM EDT. You can listen by going to our Blog Talk Radio page by clicking HERE.

And by the way?

Since I am off all day and will be quaffing more than a few beers, I may need a wake-up call at around 9:45 PM in order to make it to the show.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you don’t already have my number, email me, and I’ll send it along to ya.

I, and even more so, Jay, thank you in advance.

Have a ghoulishly fun Halloween weekend, and as always…

Cheers!!

Sometimes I think those random acts of kindness are the BEST! Not only are the a wonderful surprise, but they can be quite inspirational as well.

Here's hoping you and Jay break a leg Friday night ... or something like that!

Well I can't call at that time cause I'm just starting to do my show prep and am too busy. Also, it's about that time that I try to time out my trips to bathroom so I'll make it through the show. haha

Random acts of kindness are always great.

By the way, don't go and buy a bunch of that NOZ crap. Make ya senseless.

Kroger closed all their stores in the St. Louis area a long time ago. I thought they had gone out of business.

Schmoop said...

Mike: Really? Wow...No, they're doing just fine around here. Huh? I did not know that. Cheers Mike!!

Isn't it nice how karma works?

Maybe Kroger sent it. They want to lure you away from the Beer Mine.

What is Schmoop dressing as for Halloween?

As much as I would like to hallucinate that I sent that gift card to you, there are no Kroger stores in my area from which to purchase said card. Plus I didn't and don't have your mailing address. All that said, I recommend that you do not waste it on domestic caviar, only choose the imported.

Now >>> thoughtfulness directed toward Schmoop and I

Matty, Matty, Matty. do you not know the thing about testing the grammar by phrasing it as "directed toward I" verses "directed toward me" to get that right?

How is Ryno to learn proper English from good ole dad without this tidbit? (like as if my grammar is all good and such)

luv ya Matt-Man. You are a blessing of entertainment in my ho-hum life.

Cheers

Knight: She's not dressing up; she's undressing. There will be pre-show sex tonight. Cheers Knight!!

David: I know and there is another "I" that should be a "me" in the post. Somtimes I go back and correct, other times I just say fuck it...

Of course, since you mentioned it, my OCD dictates that I go back in and correct both. Thanks for nothin'.

Cheers David!!

Damnit! I don't want to miss the after sex show. Can I just call in and listen from the bar?

Schmoop said...

Knight: Not only can you, it's encouraged!! Cheers Knight!!

Don’tcha just love when things like this happen? It instantly puts everything back into perspective and allows you to perceive the world as inherently good, at least for a little while, again!

I thought Kroger went bankrupt in the early 90’s. That’s when they all left Pgh.

Scott: That gift card ushered in a series of events that were really good. Nothing major, but it was as though yesterday, nothing went wrong for once. I like that. Cheers scott!!
