Ha. Colin Powell endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for President.
I find this so damn funny, not because I think endorsements make a huge difference, but this one will have an impact because of the right wing reaction to it.
I am not talking about “normal thinking” Republicans (yes, there are some out there), but I am talking about the right wing fringe.
And man…these snakes are showing their colors, and their poison…quickly, loudly, and vehemently.
I got home late last night , and I was so excited to listen to Vietnam dodger and talk show radio host, Bill Cunningham on 700 WLW-AM.
Willie, as he’s known, has a large audience…And this man, who calls himself, The Voice of the Common Man is livid over the endorsement.
Willie, was saying that Powell owes everything to the Republican Party.
His career…his prominence, and it’s a damn shame that the General has backed a terrorist, and double-crossed the GOP.
Well ya know what, Willie? Sen. Joe Lieberman rose to power with the strength of the money and the machine of the Democrat party.
Yet, Jerusalem Joe has given the Dem party the big ol’ F-U, just so that he can insure that his career on the backs of the taxpayer continues, and...
That his first patriotic love, the State of Israel, still stands gazing down upon the dirt roads, poverty, and hovels of the Palestinian State.
Joe, the jig is up…We all know that you would rather have the capital of the U.S. reside in Jerusalem, and not Washington, D.C.
How’s that for hyperbole? Well it’s on Cunningham’s level. Only mine isn’t filled with hate and I don’t have the mindless audience that he has that would agree with me.
The first caller (an ex-military guy) that I heard on Cunningham's show last night said that he couldn’t believe that, “Race trumps substance.” He was speaking of Powell’s endorsement of Obama.
After the caller and Willie had phone sex over the issue, Willie once again, went on an anti-Powell rant.
And it was funny…Willie who is also a lawyer of some success, implied that Powell was endorsing Obama because of race.
Cunningham said that it was a travesty because Powell should have endorsed McCain because they were both soldiers.
Huh? Wouldn’t that be the same endorsement by association that Cunningham is eschewing? Hey Cunningham, for a lawyer you ain’t so cunning.
On a similar note, FOX News began spinning this 1,001 Ways to Sunday since the news broke, and will be doing so today…
Powell wants a position…Powell wanted to be McCain’s VP…Powell is sticking with his “homey”.
You guys all suck. Powell is still a Republican. He’s still the man he was yesterday. He’s still a thoughtful man.
The only difference is that he doesn’t walk in lockstep with the GOP.
Powell said that he likes Obama’s calm, cool, thoughtfulness. He doesn’t like the Palin choice. He doesn’t like the negative ads from McCain.
I understand that the right wing of the GOP doesn’t like people deviating from the lockstep, because if one does; they may all fall down.
And the irony is?
You have an alleged bi-partisan Maverick as a candidate, and yet you guys obviously hate self-thinkers…
Ha, and I thought the Democrats were the ones who ate their own.
Cheers!!
Update: I want to apologize to Fox and Friends...This morning the self-proclaimed, "Official Morning Show of the 2008 Election" has decided not to talk much about the Powell endorsement.
They are ignoring it in order to talk about Barack's murky fundraising and the new Lynne Spears book. Oh they mention the endorsement a bit and ask, "Did race play a part in the endorsement? What does Rush Limbaugh think?" Cue, drug boy!!

Love it, I love it.
While watching him speak I felt proud, that there was someone who finally had the balls to say that Sarah Palin was a "bad" choice.
Love it.
Makes me want to celebrate by taking a road trip!
I LOVE IT! I think that for the duration of the campaign, Obama and Biden should sit back, sip a coffee and watch the republicans fall apart!
Race trumps substance my ass. Intelligence trumps stupidity is more like it.
Micky: I agree. It was indeed good to hear that someoen of his ststure didn't pussy foot 'round the Palin pick. Road trip, eh? Cheers Mick!!
Vodka: Ha. Not a bad idea, but I never count Johnny Mac out. Anger can work wonders.
I may use your quote several times today. Cheers VM!!
Powell owes us. He wimped out on the Iraq War. About time he got some balls!
About time intelligence trumps stupidity--I may steal that one myself.
Fantasy: I think that may be part of his decision. Not that he thought the war was wrong, but when it turned out that it wasn't fought properly; he didn't speak up. I think he got tired of not speaking up. Cheers!!
Funny that the Fox isn't hungry this morning. CNN seems to be having a good breakfast.
Micky: Ha. As does MSNBC. Maybe FOX isn't covering the endorsement because the majority of their audience hasn't a clue as to who Powell is. Cheers!!
I've heard a lot from the "inclusive" Republicans this morning about how Powell "owes" what he is to the party. So typical!! Of course a black man couldn't be successful on his own.
I'm with 'prefers her fantasy life' in terms of my reaction. I still have a very hard time getting the picture of Powell at the UN out of my mind. People died in part becasue he and many other so called "good" Republicans didn't open up their f'ing mouths. So it's hard to get too excited about his endorsement.
The plus will be watching more of the Republican racism and hate come out in their reactions and for that - thanks General!!
Dianne: Oh I agree with you and Fantasy about Powell, but I, like you, enjoy this because of the Republican reaction to it.
As much as I hate hypocrisy, it can be amusing to watch it in action, and right wingers will be supplying plenty of it over the next couple of weeks. Cheers Di!!
If he is voting race over substance then isn't every honkey who ever pulled a lever to date doing the same damn thing? I mean we pretty much have ALL voted for the other whitemeat for years. At least in the presidency.
In Ron Suskinds book "The Price of Loyality" O'Neill and Powell had personal struggles with the administration. O'Neill bailed first, but Powell stuck to it a little longer. Powell too paid a big price for his loyalty to the president.
Micky: Powell, and rightfully so, has been criticized by many for being loyal to a fault.
Oddly enough, I think that that has been one of Dubya's problems as well. Cheers!!
Dude. Christ was a brother :P
...out of the mouth of Colin Powell I heard the most intelligent grouping of words spoken since this election began...I hope he DOES find a place in the Obama cabinet...
Do you mean Dubya being loyal to.....Cheney or his daddy?
Starr: Not in the eyes of the TRUE believers. You are unwashed. Cheers!!
Phfrankie: He was quite good...thoughtful...serious...Those are not cabinet position traits that we need. Cheers!!
Micky: Yes, and Gonzales, Miers, Rumsfeld...and on and on and ...Cheers!!
I *heart* Colin Powell - in fact, I was quite disappointed when he spoke out a few years ago saying he'd never run for president. As one of those damned Republicans, even I find it impossible to endorse McCain. Do I feel there might be other motivation in his endorsement? We'd all be foolish to think there wasn't, but it's not up to me to make assumptions on what that motivation might be. It will surface at some point, and if it manifests itself as a cabinet position with Obama should he win the election, I see it as a win for this country.
I am not unwashed! Uncouth, yes. Unwashed,no. I'm and Ivory girl :P
Dana: I don't think Powell wants any further official govt. positions. I think the theory of Occam's Razor applies in this case. It's just the way Secretary Powell feels. And, I wasn't lumping YOU into the Repubs that I was talking about by the way. Cheers Pal!!
Starr: Can I personally check out your claim just to make sure you are that pure? Please?
The soaps pure. Me? Not so much :p
Starr: Thanks for spoiling my investigation. Naked-Party pooper. Cheers!!
"the other white meat"!!!!
I love ya Starr
Dianne: Okay, Starr is funny, but dammit I thought it was me that you loved in a disturbing kinda way...I am sooo dissed. Cheers Di!!
It's that Ivory Girl mystique Matt. I am win ;)
I only get lumped with Kat! Oh ... that sounded kind of dirty, didn't it??
Starr: You, my dear, are sooo teasingly cruel. Cheers!!
Dana: Hey, is there room enough for me to get "lumped" in there with you two? Cheers!!
Matt you are a SPAM man, honey. You would be molded not lumped! C'mon!
Starr: Ha. You have just uttered another example as to why I loves ya so much. Cheers!!
I have an endless capacity (and a huge box of condoms) for love Matty. There is love for all.
Plus I truly thought you KNEW I save my special love for you.
but damn - there are some f'ing funny women round these parts and that is HOT!
Dianne: Ha. Yeah there are. And you are among the forefront. Thanks for the SPECIAL love, it is right back at ya my smart, hot friend. Cheers Di!!
I'm so entertained by Starr's comments I forgot what the blog post was about. LOL ;-)
Anyway, I don't think endorsements really mean all that much, but if they do I kinda think Christopher Buckley's endorsement of Obama was at least as important as Powell's.
http://tinyurl.com/3ll6e4
Why thank you Jay ;)
And I agree, Buckley was even a bigger shock. The National Review actually excepted his resignation. Talk about a poster mag for rigid ideology.
Jay: You are such a whore. Yeah I saw Buckley on TV the other day talking about it. That was cool. Cheers Jay!!
Starr: Well, that was expected. If I found out that I had become a pussy, I'd fire myself from my site. Cheers!!
Um, what did the original post saying? I got lost in the ensuing chuckles, giggles, and guffaws.
Ugh, I'm tired. Can you tell?
What did the original post SAY? (See, I can speak somewhat coherently.)
It is amazing that these people have made it about race...
The endorsement basically said...HEY REPUBLICANS, YOU SCREWED UP...YOUR HATE-MONGERING IS NOT WHAT I WANT IN MY AMERICA
So what do they do??? Stoke the fires on the hate-mongering...
freakin idiots
Matt-Man... You are as hot as ever, if I do say so. :)
Allie has a new blog up and running. Called Ask Allie Anything. You should pop on over and give Allie a question to answer.
I'm back bitch. I know you missed me. Muah.
http://askallieanything.blogspot.com
Politics, dicks with fancy pants. Oh but wait...
Songbird: Are you high again? Cheers!!
Bond: And yet? They don't even see that, Vinny. Cheers!!
Allie: Woop woop...Lovely to see you. I'll be over soon, and link your hot ass up as well. Cheers!!
Lu: I guess that excludes from politics...I have no fancy pants. Cheers!!
Stone cold sober. Just tired. Very, very tired.
Songbird: Well, I am sorry to hear that. Rest up. Cheers!!
Appears you've been mixing the Obama Kool-Aid in with your booze.
Bottoms Up!
I never knew being stupid, left wing, and bald, all are a result in brain damage. Must suck Buckeye Boy.
Have fun when Half Breed Barry comes calling for your freedoms.
Pat: While I do like Kool-Aid, specifically Pink Lemonade, I never mix it with my Rose. And guees what? I voted for Hillary in the primary, I and am voting for Obama because McCain is an asshole. Tired, used up, and a jerk. Cheers!!
Hoot: Half-Breed? Wow, resulting to ethnic epithets now, are we? It must suck that Obama, being a black man, is smarter than you. It goes against your bigoted grain doesn't it? Cheers!!
Aww Matty this is just Deep Woods Off Crackerass Peckerwood heads showin you some love ;)
Starr: And you know what? I bet they think I'm hot and want to have a repressed gay affair with me. Cheers!!
Damn better stock up on some Crisco then :P
You are such a rabble rouser ;)
Starr: Ha. I can't help it. I am one who has always felt that rabble needs to be roused. Cheers!!
Amazing ... They can not talk about the economic policy's because McCain's is non-existent...They can not talk about health care because they do not realize that $5,000 will cover them for three months, but the taxes on their health care will add 25% less to their paycheck..
So they have to insult and and yell TERRORIST at every corner to try and cover up that their candidates are clueless as to what our Country needs...
When are you going to thank me for reminding you of that blog...see how many more readers you are getting because of me! LOLOLOL
Bond: Ha. You are so right and yet...
While I do appreciate the new readers that you have brought here, man, the collective IQ of the commenters has plunged more than McCain's poll numbers. Cheers!! ; )
OH you were looking for readers with an IQ?
I thought you said you wanted readers that work at DQ!
My mistake
Bond: Can I have Butterscotch coating on that? Cheers!!
Rainbow or chocolate sprinkles?
and da ya wan fries wit dat?
Bond: Hell yeah...I like fries. Cheers!!
"they"
really
Kat: What are you talking about? Cheers!!
